249 versus 448
I have been buying Panerai watches since 2005 and have three in my collection (104, 233 and 372) and was considering a forth. I've been looking at the 249 and 448 which I really like and would diversify my collection a bit. While very similar, I've noticed that prices for the 249 are quite a bit higher than 448 even though the 448 is more limited in numbers and has the in house 3000 movement. I can't really figure out why this would be the case and wondered what your thoughts were and any advise on the matter...

249 is the first modern Cali, it's thinner, it has a trusted movement that's easy to service and it doesn't have a wacky "California" engraving.
249 by a mile. |

I had a similar predicament and went for a 249! The original 1936 California Dial. Didn't last long though as it was very thick and out of proportion IMO compared to my 232, almost sphere like :-0
