Rolex too big and heavy?

Ok don't start throwing sticks and stones at me, I love ROlex, had a few, sub c LN and LV, daytona 116515 and Batman, now I have only 2 Pateks and was thinking maybe adding a Rolex as a daily wearer, so I went to my local AD, and he made me try a few, Datejust II, Sea Dweller, sub c no date and a daytona, all of them seemed too big and heavy for me, of course when you are used to Patek, very thin esp the 5712 and very light, the other watches are hard to put, I thought I might get a date just but even that one felt too big, the SD is great but man is that thing thick, can't imagine wearing it as the thickness is basically like my wrist, too bad as it really looks cool.

I know the trend is now to bigger and bigger watches but I for one prefer thinner and lighter pieces, after 5 minutes I forget that I'm wearing one of mine because the weight is light and the comfort is incredible.

Does anyone else here feel that the Rolex modern pieces are a little too big and heavy?

Not at all. When I first put my SS Breitling on with the metal bracelet, that can seem a little heavy. The feeling goes away after a little time of wearing the watch.

I've never felt that way with a Rolex though...

I hear you on that, can't imagine wearing a watch that is more than 150 grams the Platona is around 280 grams, now that's crazy, my 2 Pateks are around 115-120 grams the advantage is that weight plus design they are incredibly comfortable, when I still had my Hulk I tried to put it on sometimes but after 30 minutes I always took it off because it felt too heavy and uncomfortable, but before getting my Pateks it didn't bother me...

A rolex too heavy?.... I think going to the gym is in order if you are weighing things in grams and deciding if it's too heavy

I can kind of see your point. You and I are just in different zones... After getting my Sub, my Breitling is just too big.

I totally get where you are coming from. I prefer the 5-digit Rolex models. I wear my BLNR less because of the extra heft. I still like it, but I do prefer how my 16600 on a NATO disappears when I'm wearing it.

this is correct even with the all gold or platinum pieces. they feel very heavy at first. once sized and worn you dont even notice at all.

Can't say for platinum but it's definitely the case for my white gold daytona

My SS Breitling and SS Tag Heuer weigh nearly as much as my WG Daytona but all are comfortable on the wrist.

Yes, no, maybe. Sometimes each of those. I think I tend to wear the heavier pieces more although the DJ and DD are both great comfortable 36mm watches.

I like the weight of a precious metal Rolex. If I wanted a light watch I would buy a titanium one. But I prefer some weight.

not even close. Maybe you should ask this on the invicta forums?

I don't feel that way personally, but if you're used to lighter thinner Pateks then I can see how you would feel a modern Rolex is heavy.

Have you tried on a steel Daytona recently? Very light, thin and comfortable. Most comfortable watch I own.

Not for me because I am used to wearing Rolex.

Maybe if I wear a Patek, it would feel the opposite. That I am wearing a light watch or nothing except for the fact that my brain is thinking I paid a huge amount of money, which is quite "big" and "heavy" for my pocket IMO.

Rolex subs and gmts never seem to bother me. They seem well balanced and the bracelet adjustments on the fly keep me satisfied.

Of course a royal oak or my 5167 are more comfortable being thinner, but even as someone who prefer lighter watches, rolex doesn't bother me,

This.

The thing is that they're so comfortable that the weight just isn't an issue. Your hand weighs much more than the watch but you don't struggle to lug your hand about.

Yes I forget too, so when I try on an SS Rolex in the ADs they feel like toys to me, and you can imagine what a 5711/2 Nautilus feels like, not even heavy enough to be a toy

Most of the watches you have had are the super case?

I would try vintage before you give up unless you are one of those WIS types that has to have the latest model. New is not always better.
