Any media, marketers, advertisers or sales people here?
i just noticed i got hammered again with email ads this morning from car rentals, restaurants, car companies and even amazon. i went back to mid Feb and noticed the same inbound email traffic to my email addresses.
is this schedule done on purpose? is mid-month the rule for marketers with emails? any metrics to validate this is the most effective time to send these things out? just curious. Thanks |

I worked for an email marketing company for years; people often asked us when the best time of week/month to send is. From my experience, time of the month didn't affect it as much as time of day and week. Open rates for holiday sales (like the deluge that's probably in your inbox now) usually weren't that good because so many people are doing the same thing at the same time. I recommended sending no more than 1-2 newsletters per month, and when senders sent more than 1 per week that's when open rates really dropped off.

I'm in marketing and sales, but I haven't seen an influx of spam. I get dozens of Nigerian prince emails a day, though.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the high traffic days IMHO.

In my last role, we found we got the best click through rates/responses to mass emails sent out on Tuesdays.

Tuesdays are commonly used for e-mail marketing, I got slammed this-morning as well. I've been on an "unsubscribe" campaign and have spent the past two-weeks unsubscribing ... it's marketing overload even from my favorite retailers.

I get hundreds of E-mails telling me to consolidate debts or debt advice. Strange as I have no mortgage or loans
