Sorry, Steve, but the Daytona far outclasses the Panerai. It just isn't as collectible...yet! Just my

Own several PAMS and both SS daytona. The fiddy is a beautiful piece but would not pay the premium. The white gold daytona is ok...I would find another PAM in a 1950 case ie 233 with out the premium or ss daytona.

Normally more of a Rolex man personally, I would go for the PAM 127 in a heartbeat. I like the clean and classic looks of it. The Daytona is nice, too, but not as nice as the PAM.

Daytona all day long. People choose watches for the looks and the features. The Daytona has more features and prettier looks.

Steve...WG Daytona hands down . Simply stunning ...a breathtaking watch IMO. No offense whatsoever to Panerai fans but most of their line simply look like a big chunky Timex.

No surprises that you get the majority voting for the Daytona on this forum.

However, I'm NOT dedicated to Rolex and have a good balance of brands in my collection but I have to say that I would go for the Daytona. I think the model you mention is nicer than the meteorite dial and will always be a class act.

I am a dive watch fan and I do like the PAM but it is in a much lower league than the Daytona in my opinion.

Good luck - Simon

I voted Daytona. I am into complications and the PAM is (a) too simple for my taste; and (b) too big for my taste. I like big watches (my Breitling Navitimer Olympus is 43.5mm and my Glycine Airman 9 is 44mm) but the PAM just looks too big and clunky with that oversized crown guard.

You asked so that's my

Steve, PAM 127 because of the following advanatges over the Daytona:

1) Clean understated looking watch
2) Limited Edition
3) Highly collectible
4) Already doubled its list price and will keep on gaining value

Yes the daytonas are beautifull watches BUT other than the SS their resale price is not great, and if you are interested on that 127 you can buy the Daytona, wait get the cravings again for the PAM 127 and will have to regret not buying it before as it has increased in price yet again!!!!
Get that PAM127!!!

What a waste of money if spent on that PAM. You could get a fake one that looks exactly like that for $45. Get the WG Daytona.

I'd go with the Rolex.

Longer term, the Rolex will continue to appreciate and will remain a very desireable watch.

Panerai, as much as I like them, haven't proven themselves in the same way that Rolex has.

For the investment and everyday wear, I would go for the PAM. For the look, I would go for the WG Daytona. I am a Rolex fan, but Panerai is growing on me now. Go PAM!

Go for the Rolex.

Whilst I really liked my Pam 111 it shook me to the bone when a sales rep once showed up wearing his "replica Pam".

They had the EXACT SAME MOVEMENT as mine, including the Swan neck. Mine was a little more polished I grant you but there again mine cost £2500 and his cost £95.

I flipped the watch within the month and only lost pin money but I never had the same looks on a Unitas movement Pam again.

I am with JJ on this one. Wait for the DDII in YG.
WG does nothing for me and only Rolex aficionados know the difference. Looks like plain old steel to everyone else.

And here is a kicker...Just what does PAM stand for?

Can I throw a wrench (spanner, right?) into the mix?

For around the same total price, I'd get a SS Daytona AND a PAM 190 or 233 in mint condition.

127!!!!!!!!!!!

That domed crystal is to die for. Much more rare than a WG Daytona.

I however must admit, I'm not a super Daytona fan. Don't get me wrong, they are wonderful, but there are so many other watches I would rather have, like let's say a 127!!!!!

Good luck. You really can't make a wrong choice however!
