Real or Fake

I am shopping around for a rolex for a wedding present I'm going to give my Fiance. I've already had trouble with purchasing a watch online that turned out to be a fake but I can't seem to find any Rolex watches in my area. I did research on a new website and asked them to send me pictures of two of their watches. Can anyone tell me if they are real or fake? They look real to me but I don't want to buy them and deal with the returns if they end up being fake.

Thank you!

Not an expert but at first glance they don't look too promising. The markers look odd to me on both.

Thanks for your response! They're supposedly used watches so I know the one on the left looks a little beat up but what looks odd about the one of the right?

These watches are from bobswatches and from what I read on this site, they are a pretty reputable website...

those aren't from bobswatches or at least the pictures aren't, http://www.bobswatches.com/ . I would pay a bit more and get the real deal from a real dude like bobswatches direct or Alan Furman http://www.alanfurman.com/ in rockville. There's an awesome watch store in Montgomery Mall Lilenquest they have really nice pieces from omega rolex, breitling patek and they start out at reasonable prices.

Those watches, I'm not 100% on but I wouldn't buy them you might buy two fakes in a row.

Thanks everyone for your help! This picture is actually from bobswatches. I emailed bobswatches asking for pictures of two watches they are selling on their website. This was the picture if got back. So they are pretty much selling two fake watches?

if they are from bob's they are real or you get your money back. They just don't look like they would be from them, the one on the left is not really I think good enough for them to sell, the one on the right could be this watch: http://www.bobswatches.com/steel-rol...ust-16220.html but they often take better pictures and I don't think they have tags on their watches like that?

Bobs are guaranteed real, but they are used. so look for used issues. e.g. get a picture of the back of the watch, make sure the lugs are clean, dials clean, bezels clean, hands, and if you want it as an investment you may want to buy a box and original warranty papers, if you want a better watch for then it doesn't matter if you get the box.

The thing that makes a rolex most valuable down the line is the original hands and dial. Bezels are often cheapest (except the platinum one on the yacht master) to replace. Rolex stainless steel GMT and Submariner will probably be worth more than a DJ down the line, so you can make up for the extra cost when you sell it (personally I'd get one of those instead).

These are the links for the watches I asked to receive pictures of. They look the same as the picture they emailed to me of both watches together.

I already bought a fake watch from another website and luckily got my money back because they had the same 3 day guarantee as Bobswatches does. I just don't want to go through the same thing so I'm trying to do as much research as I can. Any advice helps!

those watches are real, those original emailed pictures suck. bobs if they aren't real I believe they will take the watch back or make it right within a year or more. Sometimes parts within a real watch aren't real, but bobs also guarantees that their watches have 100% genuine rolex parts.

I guess the picture they emailed to me is poor quality. They did tell me that their photographer was gone for the day. I'll keep researching different watches but it's relieving to know that bobswatches is selling real ones. Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!

Audrey here's three more watches to check out cause too, they may be a bit easier to sell down the line/ this is what I'd want if I was getting married lol / some of these watches will appreciate more over time than others, typically stainless sport models do best.

hope this helps

How did you find out the first watch was fake?

That first one looks horrible.

Here are two from Swiss Watch Expo that you might like:

I purchased a GMT from there a few years ago and was very satisfied.

Those look great. My budget is $4,000 so the first one, although beautiful, is definitely out of the question but I will look into the other two!

I took it to two places and they both could tell right away that it was fake by the sound the crown made when they wound it.

The first link is just a link to their Rolex inventory. If you click on a model type on the left, say Datejust, the results will be filtered.

Good Luck!
