Yellow Gold SKY DWELLER vs Daytonas
My grail Rolex SKY DWELLER vs 3 Daytonas .
Each competitor has it's own great points . This poll is concerned as only as these serial numbered dial models . Money is concern ? Yes considering you can buy 326938 SKY DWELLER and Yellow Gold Daytona or SKY DWELLER + Meteorite and still may have left over money for the price of Platinum Daytona or just buy Platinum Daytona and call it a day no more watches . Please when voting take this into consideration

It would be between the SKD and the Platona for me...Platona if funds were available, SKD if it was close.

I love the look of the platinum daytona, but taking price into account I would rather have two other watches instead of that one. I voted for the white gold daytona, with the meteorite dial. I think I will be the only one :)

I have been looking at the Platona lately, I have never had a grail but its fast becoming an obsession. The fact I would have to sell all 5 current watches and a kidney is the only reason I have not tried it on..............yet.
Seeing as its your money, I would buy the Platona |

I love the Sky. and the Daytona the most but....
it would have to be the Daytona for me. I absolutely love the mechanism behind the Skydweller, but it is simply too big of a watch for my taste.

Hard to justify new price of Platona which is what I voted for, but if it was not that it would not be that combination of Daytonas either......... it would be a Newman Dial or choc brown on leather. SkyD does not do it for me it is too big.

I would choose Platona of these but I would get my true grail first not just what I had the funds for.

Sky dweller for me as well, I just can't get around the 40mm of the Daytona. 42mm would suit me better and the fact that you have a YMII which is 44mm, it might be difficult to live with a Daytona. Good luck

Well, since you say the YG SkyD is your "grail", I don't see why you wouldn't get it.
For me, though, if the platinum Daytona is seriously in play, then that's the one, hands down! |

Did you consider the rose gold Sky Dweller on strap?

Thanks for comments and votes.
I say SKY DWELLER is my grail but may be my grail watch should be Platinum Daytona. Because I already have DJ II, SS YM II and BLNR SKY DWELLER can be considered a watch that combines features of GMT MASTER II and DJ II. However, in reality it is an understatement assessing a watch like that that holds many patents and unique mechanical movement that is called caliber 9001 GMT ring is no centered properly and in some angles it looks weird. May be it's already not a small watch but 44 MM diameter would solve this problem if that's a problem On the other hand, yes 40 MM Platinum Daytona would be too small for my taste but BLNR is 40 MM too. Having said that, I don't mind wearing 44 MM watches or 42 even 40 but I would like to see BLNR was 42 instead Platinum also has the same movement as you can find in entry level SS Daytona, you just pay that hefty amount for the material not movement If Platinum was 44 MM or a different movement like leap seconds I would have jumped on it No rose gold for me, I can't get around that color hue at all

I looked at the skydwellers long and hard. Looked at the WG on bracelet and WG panda on leather. I just couldn't get over some little things in the design and ultimately decided that my annual calendar would not be a rolex. So I would go with the platinum Daytona.

Sky-dweller for me. I actually use the GMT function on a daily basis and enjoy operating the ring command bezel.
Love the instantaneous calendar (month jumps instantaneously with the date), housed within the legendary oyster case. Most annual calendars I know of are gradual and slow change. Month display is highly innovative. AFAIK only Moser uses that kind of month display (i.e. using hour markers as month indicators as well). But Moser uses a hand for month indication, whereas sky dweller uses windows. It is amazing how so much info is displayed without adding any extra hand. And yes, it is a nice fusion of DJ and GMT Master II, with additional function (annual calendar) and technology (ring command). I have owned this watch (WG/Roman bracelet version) since last August and have worn it ~90% of the time and the honeymoon period is not over yet. Based on my personal experience, I strongly recommend the sky-dweller, but of course go for the one that sings to you. Best of luck on your hunt. |
