Yachtmaster II in Yellow Gold

Morning all,

This is my first post so go easy on me.

I currently own a st/st Datejust 2 (36mm) but have quite large wrists and ever since buying it, I feel it looks little bit lost; I wear suits every day to work and it is perfect for an everyday 'work' watch as it fits under my sleeve nicely and is quite subtle.

However, now I am looking at getting a special occassion watch, I am due to get married in 8 weeks (in Vegas) and ever since accidently trying on a gold yachtmaster II (I wanted to look at the st/st one but it was not available) at Amsterdam Airport a year ago, I realised that noting else would suffice.

What are peoples thoughts on this watch, I know its a bit 'flashy' but i will only really be wearing it for special occassions. Sizewise, its seems perfect but I have some concerns about getting buyers remorse paying £20k+ for a watch.

I then need to find someone to marry in Vegas, and then a yacht.

Again, be nice please, I'm a newby.

Thanks,

Nick

Welcome!

These posts always seem funny to me. Buy the watch for yourself, not because of what we think. And then post pictures.

Ok, you've made my mind up. I will be collecting the watch at the end of next week!

Thanks for your help.

Awesome watch.

If I had big wrists, it would be on my short list.

Absolutely stunning reference. Don't give it a second thought.

A little confused by your post, though. You said Datejust 2...36mm? The DJ2 is 41mm. If you are a bigger guy, then yes, 36mm is going to wear on the smallish side. If it's a 36mm DJ, have you looked at the DJ2? Might save you a little money...

i have the 116681, rg/ss YM II and I absolutely love it. I don't have a traditional job where it would be inappropriate to wear often so I rock this bad larry every day! I like it more than my TT bluesy but I'm sure that's partly because that was my last everyday watch for almost 5 years and my new YM II is the new kid on the block.

Also, I don't have large wrists but I also DGAF and think the comparative size makes it that much more stunning. The top of my wrist is about 1mm shorter than this watch lug to lug and I'm fine with that.

Apologies, yes, its the 36mm DJ. its, not just a larger watch I want, i'm pretty sure its the YM2. The DJ has been good as a 'day-to-day' watch but looking for something with a bit more of a 'wow' factor.

Or am I alone on this one?

There's something amazing about the dial on that piece in real life. I'm not sure if it's the gold rehaut that creates the hue, but overall something is definitely working its magic on it. The fonts look super crisp as well.

So tempting

OK...gotcha. Well there aren't many with more of a wow factor than the YM2, so go on and rock that bad boy.

Not a fair comparison there, have to be the gold with white face on both. I agree, the SS one is bland.

However, if you go to sell a DJII you will lose a considerable amount of money. So mistake wise if you found that you didn't like it you wouldn't lose as much as you would with the DJII.
