Will the ap royal oak maintain value over the years

Generally speaking, Rolex has much better resale value than AP. I'm a serial flipper as well. Best bet is to buy preowned at the right price.

I paid 12,000. for my ro black dial almost 3 years ago (new). Think I could get 10 or 11 for it now. I have never made money on a watch. If I get 11 then I would be pretty happy.!000 dollar loss for 3 years, not bad.

You could do better with a 15202 or 15300 bought at the right price than a 15400.

Around, there are a couple pre-owned for sale right here on the forum, something around $18.5k I think is fair.

If you have an AD that will sell a 15202 at 25% off list you should take it. And pm me the details. That is very good for that piece.

15% off bnib from an AD is a great price.

Not every AD will have one to offer, boutiques have them in the back most of time but they hardly ever discount them.

So, I would get one here, there are unworn and mint for the around $19k.

Could you do better at an AD, proooobably, but give or take a couple of hundred bucks I would save the trouble of finding one in a AD and haggling.

I must be a bad haggler, I've never seen a bnib here for 19k or gotten 15% off a jumbo.has the market softened for the 15202?

depends which material gold/steel, bracelet or strap , which model a 15202, 15300 depreciate less than the 15400

I've been trying to look for a pre owned AP 26320 RG white dial on strap (same as Neil's) for months now for this very reason. I read that the ap doesn't hold value as much as the Rolex and I want to take advantage of that and get a pre owned one instead of new. But it's impossible to find..... Just wondering How much do you think a pre owned should be off %age wise from msrp lets say if it's 1-2nyears old in excellent condition?

Good luck, in the Paris boutique it's 0% discount on the Jumbo, and you have the impression that you are really bothering them, same at the Panerai boutique...

IMO on the 15400 possible, on Jumbo blue dial, good luck… The one that IMO you won't loose money on is the blue dial 15300, 1,5 year ago I almost got one from 2009 in mint, for 8.900 euros, now I don't think less than 12K is imaginable, so I don't think they will loose if you buy now, IMO they will retain, but I don't think they will go much higher than 13-14K

Honestly Sam I don't know AP enough, my Daytona RG on strap was retail 23.400 euros, got for 17.500 and sold in super mint for 15.800 euros, would still have it had I paid retail, would have never taken a 8K loss
