My meager collection of two includes a GMTIIC and a TT DJ. I think they complement each other nicely and both suit my 6.5" wrist well. IMO the DJ is a classic Rolex icon and should be a part of anyone's collection.

This article by Hodinkee that many people have mentioned before makes a great case for the 116234 as both a dress and sporty watch.

I actually like my DJ on a leather bracelet. And it's not "too dressy," and classy cool. Heck, I wear it with a shirt and jeans.

A DJ is a good add to a sports collection, for most. For me, I have bought and sold 3 DJ's (all white dial with romans) in the past 15 years, so I initially liked them, then decided to trade/sell them.

I have a 1601, and love it. It's my go to dress watch. I think a DJ is a good part of any collection.

Interesting that most dials here are white or silver.

I think all collections need at least one DJ/DJII or a DD/DDII choice of size is really up to you and your wrist but no real wrong choice

Okay, I'll play too!
Here's my first post and a picture of the 2 Datejusts that I was comparing: I ended up with the 116234 - white gold fluted bezel with a super jubilee bracelet. I figured I should go with a dressier watch for special occasions... I've been wearing it everyday since I've acquired it. Its my first Rolex, and now I want a sportier watch! HAHA.... it's an addiction and a sickness, but I can't wait to get a 116710 BNLR!!! |

My wife suggested, why don't get a Daytona instead of a DJ?
I was like blown away...The Daytona is almost like a grail watch... |

I recently got my 16013 DJ back from having its original dial reinserted. It's a great watch; also with plexi crystal, tapestry dial, and tritium dial, a true classic.
On the other hand I have a bit newer DJII 116300 which I find lovely and also a great watch. I find it quite comfortable on my 6.5 inch wrist. They are both great watches. Sometimes the 36mm feels and looks a bit small even on my wrist (although the perspective here doesn't show it). Now it's not that I don't like sport watches as I've got a 40mm 14060 Sub, a 40mm ExpII, and a 40mm GMT all five digit version and all of which work better for me than the newer heftier models (the 114060 just felt way to awkward on me). |

Damn, Tudor, that is pretty! Well done
MJ Clark, I think we might be kin. I have wanted a similar DJ to go with my black-insert GMT. And I like bulldogs (but really, who doesn't?) Cll: I agree with all the other cats around here. A DJ makes a nice compliment to the sets (though I am sad to see I am not the only one who has had similar thoughts....I try to be original). If the step down to a 36mm is too much, there's always the DJ II |

That white tapestry dial sure looks good on that older Datejust off Lee's.

Thanks; it's amazing what a small choice like the right dial makes on the desirability of a DJ. I like it a lot better as well.
