Just received my watch back from service, watch was taken to my local AD who forwarded it to Rolex at Bexley.

Cost of service was £810, I asked AD if he had a receipt or invoice from Rolex as I wanted to see breakdown of costs.

He replied " Rolex do not sent breakdown of cost, they just send total cost ",
I found this strange but took him at his word.

On reflection, is this the case or just his way of adding a hidden cost?.
I understand that postage and insurance would be added.

Any thoughts on the way AD has delt with this matter would be appreciated.

Even if they didn't itemized the costs, they should have paperwork listing what was done. With that information, you can contact the RSC and ask them for a quote to see if the AD added anything.

I've only been to the RSC for warranty work, so I only have received itemized work with no cost associated.

jock, what was the watch? did you have any other work carried out other than a service? bracelet replacement etc etc?

cost of service seems a little bit steep...if not vertical.

Watch was a 1967 Submariner 5513, face replaced, hands, bezel, but I dont now If anything internal, that is why I would have liked a full inventory of work carried out.

aahhh that makes more sense now, its a 40 year plus sub...and not some run of the mill modern sub... that figures.

anyways i would ask for a breakdown of costs... even if in future you decide to sell... it would be useful to the potential buyer as to what work was carried out.

Sounds like the AD may be pulling a fast one..

Most RSC's send you an estimate of charges before even commencing work, and include work that must be done as well as recommended work.. After the work they itemize what was done on a final invoice..

Those charges seem a bit excesssive..

Jock, service in the states would be around $500USD. Add about $250 or so for a service replacement dial and hands, and around another $250 or so for a new bezel and insert. If only the insert $51 USD.

Prior to service on the watch RSC would notify before any work was done.

Paperwork with cost breakdown looks like this,

They should give you a breakdown on the face, dial and bezel, but Rolex does not provide any information on parts replaced inside the watch, so the AD will not have that info either. Good luck!

I think your AD may be pulling a fast one. Rolex is not in the habit of doing any work (or estimate) without an itemized list of the needed repairs. At least that's the way here in the US.

same deal in s'pore too. I had my 6694 completely replaced and overhauled, and they gave me a itemised list of everything that was done.

Thanks for all your replies, I phoned Rolex Bexley today and they are going to forward all details of replaced parts and work done to watch, however, it will be sent via AD to forward onto me ? Hope I see it !.

I would think that with the ad getting the break down of charges that this would put him on notice that you want to know exactly what you paid for. This should not be a problem with an honest ad. In my opinion he should not have a problem letting you have the break down. There is nothing wrong with him making a little money for handling everything for you. Let us know what has transpired.
