Do you wear your Rolex as your daily?

Good day everyone, I would like to start out by saying that this forum group is a great source of information and I have very much enjoyed gleaning info from other users and their insight.

I am in the market for a Rolex Sub, but one question that keeps coming into my mind is "can I wear this on a daily basis?" Currently I have a Citizen that has been on my arm since 1994, I have acquired a few additional watches over the years, and even when running use a chrono, but mostly it has been this watch. Yes, I am the person that does wear his watch every day, and from what I have read I am not alone in this group.

In the 20+ years I have never lost this watch, it has only fallen off once when one of the pins broke, I have only been truly in one place where I didn't feel comfortable wearing it (a trip to Caracas), and I have only had one person ever ask me to take it off (I used to work for a bank).

So with all of that, I am still of course a little hesitant about making the move to the Rolex and wanted to see what the opinions were of others. If this is not watch I could wear on a daily basis, I just do not think I could justify spending the money on it, and especially since I am not buying this for anyone else except for me I want to know it is something I can wear.

I am interested to know if anyone else joins in my initial paranoia of wearing this watch, or do many just through caution to the wind and wear their Rolex proudly.

Thank you,
Cameron

Well myself have been wearing Rolex almost daily for over 35 years, two of my watches one a Sub the other SD were used and often abused with well over 600 hours underwater fresh and salt.Rolex watches will last a life time with just a little care from its owner its that simple.Just regular washing and normal routine service they are good for 50 plus years hope this answered all your questions.

The 114060 was too bulky for me to wear continually; it had nothing to do with it being a Rolex however. I almost always wear one of mine. I have enough for one for each day of the week. Maybe that's not a bad idea, choosing them that way. One for each day and a couple for holidays.

The Rolex Oyster line has been built since its introduction to deal with the demands of daily wear and more and the watches in this line are tougher today than ever. You simply do not have to pamper an Oyster.

114060 all day everyday. Only take it off to sleep, and showers typically.

I purchased my first Rolex with was a Submariner date in 1998. It was a real stretch financially for me to purchase it. I wore it maybe 6 times in the first year for fear of scratching it.
After some research and teasing from my jeweler, I wore it daily for almost 15 years and is still on my wrist the majority of the week.
Rolex watches were made to be worn and used. You spent good money on it so enjoy it :)

Somewhere in here some one said "it's all about attitude". If you're self conscious about wearing it then you're going to be self conscious about wearing it.

Someone else said people buy them for all different reasons (eg status symbol, marking an occasion, appreciation for the craft, etc)

For others, if you like it? Who cares what any one thinks!

I've had my sub for 5 years and still working towards daily wear. I'm a young guy (30) and I try and dress appropriate and humble. So I stumble but I'm getting there. Mostly I don't wear it to work or when exercising. Rest of the time... I get crazy if I'm not wearing it!

If you're not ready you're not ready. If you go for it? You'll love it.

Thank you for the response, that it what I was looking for. It sounds like in many respects you can wear your Rolex as if it was a Timex or any old watch you picked up at Wal-Mart, the exception of course being simply that this is indeed a Rolex.

Thank you

I do!

My 14060M is my "daily beater", and my Milgauss GV gets used 1-3 times a week.

...Wearing the GV now at work because it's been a couple days since it saw any wrist time.

Do you wear your Rolex as your daily?

I wore my sub for at least three years straight doing everything possible (other than diving )
Now I rotate pieces, but still wear the sub by far the most.
Definitely get one and definitely wear the snot out of it

Thank you for the pics. What color do you call the blue on your Sub? I really like the 16613/116613 models but I am still trying to figure out the different blues that were available over the years.

I have a three watch rotation, my modern watches. I wear one for a week and then switch to another for a week.

My vintage datejust when I suit up,which is not common.

My vintage oyster and oysterdate are on straps, and sometimes I mix up the rotation with one of those

I have also some other watches which I give wristtime, but when none of them is not on my wrist I wear a Rolex. It is also right to leave a watch at home if you feel that the wearing doesn't feel good at a certain place, for example when you had a trip to Caracas.

I wear an S.S. Daytona everyday since I bought it. It's so much more in between the ears of the owner than anything else. Put it this way; I am also a musician. Unless I'm packing around a case, or playing, nobody would know. I know there are others that want to look like they're in a band. It's all good.

I have had my 1991 14060 for a month and I've worn it every day.

I plan on using it/enjoying it as often as I can, unless I want to switch it up.

It was designed as a workhorse - might as well treat it like one!

24/7, for me. Get it insured, use light soap and warm water to wash it, service it every 5-7 years, and just go for it.

Daily wearer for two years until this spring when I started rotating it just a little. Yes, you can wear it every day for decades without worry, just need to budget for a servicing every 6-8 years or so. Welcome to TRF!
