New problem, sub is way fast

Hey Guys,
So I posted on here a few days ago wondering why my watch was fast, about 4 seconds a day, and was given some very helpful advice. I have basically just waited till the end of the day then gone to time.gov and set the time again, usually its around 3-4 secs fast per day. Today however I got home and my watch was almost 50 secs fast. I was wondering if this was because I bumped it or something and a gear slipped or is there something seriously wrong?

Thanks in advance.

A little history would be helpful. Is it the Red you have in your avatar? Have you had it serviced recently? Were you wearing it or doing your usual routine when you noticed it picked up 50 sec's? All that aside, strong magnetism can cause the sudden change you describe. If recently serviced, something might have gone awry. Mainsprings getting tangled can wreak havoc w/accuracy as well. Maybe a little more background info...??

My GMT had similar problem and now Mr. President is with similar symptoms.
First the fast time and then when I whirled it around in my hand as if to wind the rotor, the internal vibrating/buzzing [cell phone like] began.
Could be that rotor grease dried up from what I hear.

You are only a short trip to Rolex NYC, you could just walk in customer service and they will tell you right away.....and then you have to leave it there...

Mine are due for servicing so I need the peace of mind regardless.

Good luck and don't lose sleep over it!

Not the one in my avatar, is a 2002-3 Blue Sub, bought used, never serviced, has been fine, 4 secs is within parameters so never cared much, first time its been this fast, was wearing it pretty regularly today, guess a magnet might be it, not sure. Hope that tommorow will let me know if its a one time thing or something constant.

I would monitor it for a few days to check for consistency and if the problem persists take it for a service.

the thing is, when you are wearing the watch, it gets faster, when you take it off to sleep at night, it slows down , so its better to observe the changes over a period of 1mth and see if its really +4sec per day faster (+4sec x 30days = 2minutes off)... or is this rate of increase being balanced by the slow-down rate (ie just +4sec after 30days, instead of 2minutes) , in any case, even if its 2minutes off after 1month, its well within COSC requirement
