Stella Dail..........interesting to say the least.
This guy has a DJ for sale with a "Stella Dial" and in the parentheses it says "Original dial repainted". But it's painted GREEN?!?!?!?! I've never heard or seen this before. On top of that he wants 10k.

In the 1970’s, Rolex made a series of colored dials with a multi-layered lacquer coat. Referred to as Stella dials, they can give the impression of porcelain and there is a certain translucency about them.
Rolex didn’t actually call these Stella dials. Coming from the Latin word “stella”, which means star, it was a name bestowed by collectors because they glisten in the light, giving the impression of shining stars. They are also sometimes called “Stellina” dials, the Italian word for little star. At the time Rolex produced these colored lacquer dials, they weren’t very popular and perhaps why that’s there was such a short run. And what does a short run mean? Rarity, which is one of the 4 Q’s we talk about when collecting watches. |

So it's a DD (likely an 1803 given the time frame for the Stellas) not a DJ. So 10K is a bit high but not that much depending on the condition. Was the dial originally a Stella or was this an attempt at making the watch more valuable. At any rate a repainted dial isn't something I'd want. FWIW, the coloring was pretty popular during the late 60s/early 70s (maybe not for Roelx); my dad had a Wyler that had that color dial. I'd love to find one in good condition.
