Silly question about the Milgauss

Hello:

Is the Milgauss considered a tool watch like the gmt, sub, sd, etc...? If so, what profession was it designed for?

With the word gauss and what looks like a lightning bolt shapped seconds hand, I am kind of guessing something to do with electricity, maybe anti-magnetic?

Thanks in advance...

Dex

Yes, you are correct. The Milgauss was designed to be used near magnetic fields and not be affected by them. I don't know much more history about it, but I'm sure the experts here will chime in soon.

I think it's anti magnetic to one million Gauss, hence Milgauss.

Its actually 1000, the french word Mille means 1,000 and gauss is a unit measuring magnetic field.

No Problem, I think the most important fact is that it is one of the most beautiful and unique rolexs around, if only I had one I'd tell you more ;).
