You need to do your homework. I've no time to convince you.

Very entertaining thread.
I've bought from my local Ad on 4 occasions, and I've dealt with a trusted seller here. I can happily state there was no difference in terms of the service I received Not every purchase decision comes down to dollars and cents. For me it's more about trust and service. |

It is indeed an expensive hobby...that's why I'm going to save every penny I can. I'm not like the guy on the TV ad who is literally made of money. Buying fewer watches? As Thomas said, not an option.
And us flippers know, if you buy right, flipping/selling is a lot less painful. |

Trusted Sellers here on TRF have been a great help to me. I respect the fact that new members may wonder aloud - but don't understand why they never learn to use the search feature.

Try entering trusted sellers in the search box and see what it gets you.

These are not trusted sellers to someone that doesn't yet trust them, especially if they just became a member two months ago.....Stick around, get to know the people, keep asking questions, and they might actually gain your "trust".

After a few months on the forum I bought a watch from DavidSW and another seller. Never asked anyone a question about them though.....I did my own questioning direct with the seller and read the feedback. Easy peasy. Absolute no brainer.

OP, this style of internet message board has been around for 20 years, and there are many ways to get detailed search results. Simply typing "trusted seller" in the search box isn't going to work.
So, click "search" then "advanced search". Now select "search titles only", type in "trusted", select the forum most relevant to your question, in this case "Rolex General Discussion" and then select the "sort by number of replies" option. There you have it, how to search a message board

There's another reason to buy from a trusted seller, it's fair trading. For example if you said hey I have these watches I want to trade, and you're realistic with trade value, then it saves a lot of headache on your end from having to sell pieces yourself.
Likewise, some of the trusted sellers will consign watches for you. I haven't done this myself but it's another service that some provide and it's a good service as once again you don't have to deal with the hassle. And yet another reason is if you don't have an AD that you like nearby that deals in a particular brand. My jeweler doesn't carry AP, so I'm going to trusted sellers if I want an AP. All of the rest of my pieces are from my AD. In terms of a relationship, I can see why it's important if you want access to special events or even the ability to get something like a Patek application piece. If this isn't you, the merchandise is identical in terms of being double wrapped/etc... |

Thanks for the instruction on how to access trusted sellers threads on this forum. It worked after one or two false starts.

Then, you will be full of knowledge on how the price will be going up at the end of the week/month and why the magnification issue is due to AR coatings. Sounds win win to me.

I don't know that I will ever buy from an AD again.
