Well i am pretty excited as i am about to pull the trigger on my very first Rolex.Question is which one.Tossing up between the Sea Dweller and the Sub date.

I wear a suit to work everyday and yes,i have tried both own and they both smile at me.I love the thickness and heft of the Sea dweller and can get one at msrp while they last.And obviously the SD will be canned so do i get one BNIB while i can.

But i have always thought that the sub date is the quintessential Rolex and this should be my first Rolex.Plus it will sit a bit better with a suit.Having said that i am not a huge fan of the cyclops but could live with it.

What do you think ?? I know its a win/win situation but jst want to get the right one.

Today week i am going into hospital for some back surgery so this will cheer me up a bit (a lot).

I'd go for the Sub Date...quintessential Rolex. a true classic!!!!

Sub-Date because you said you wear a suit to work everyday and the Sub-Date fits better under the sleeve of a shirt.

My first Rolex was a Sub-Date and I don't regret it.

Well, both models are superb....go with the one you like. If you like the cyclops then, naturally, this one!!

Get what makes you happy.....

SD would be my choice as it is a bit more stout, a bit more unusual, and coming to an end this year.

Try 'em both on and see what makes the heart beat faster, they should both achieve this but one will be faster than the other

Albeit biased, My personal view would be that under the current climate of the SD's sad demise; get your self in the 4000' club B4 they're all gone then get the Sub-Date.

The SD would be a little taller on the wrist and heavier at 148 grams. The sub is a tad lighter.

In addition to this, the SD for the long haul may cause a bit more for maintenance due to the thicker gaskets and the HEV servicing.

The SD is over engineered for mere mortals like us, but its a surefire way to ensure that it will stand the test of time!

Both the SS Sub Date and SD are excellent watches.

Personally, I prefer the SD for its clean dial look, higher standig crystal and thicker case.

Another SD review.

As stated, it IS a win/win situation, so basically you cannot go wrong with either!

I read the review comparing the Seadweller to the Submariner LV and he left off one of the most important differences IMO - the Lume increase on the Sub LV. The larger minute hand and hour markers are significant for low light visibility. At any rate that along with the other differences mentioned in that review is why I replaced my second Seadweller with a Submariner LV.

I enjoy wearing both but prefer the SD. Less of them around and I like the size. Without a single doubt in my mind I would buy a new 'M' SD as the last of this model.

Sub Date is like black slacks. . . . goes with everything and very professional for any profession. The Cyclops is Synonymous to the Rolex Brand, and can be spotted from a mile away to another Rolex owner (or a future Rolex owner or enthusiast).

My friend had the same dilemma a few years ago. I really stuck my neck out and practically force him to get the Sub Date, and now he says the Cyclops that he thought he didn't like is the best feature of his Sub. It truly is a gorgeous watch.
