Well it is all personal isn't it? What do you want for your next watch/ something strangers on internet will tell ya or ? Do you want golden watch? DO you think it looks nice and sophisticated on a tool diver? Do you think it is a good idea to have a soft metal for daily watch wear?

Personally I dont like yellow metal anyway, so would not ever want to buy gold watch. However if it was platinum / why not. It will have great patina, it will age well, it is hard as steel (unlike soft gold).

As for next watch, if you go precious metal, I would consider VC, JLC, AP or something along those lines.

Think about it this way, for 20k+ you will spend on your white gold sub or GMT, you could start looking into stuff from FP Journe and ALS. My god, they are just stunning. I am all about variety. My collection ideally is a submariner and something very cool and high end from FP Journe or ALS or even if money is less allowing, a JLC Reverso.

But if you must have another rolex, please dont buy a gold sub brand new. Get at least a used one.

BTW, the only gold submariner i saw that I liked was on a woman so there you go. it's a nice jewelry piece.

I do. I'm currently looking at the TT GMT2c, and TT DJ2 with slate dial.

My next Rolex will be either a DJ2 or a DD-depending on how my career goes but people may go for daytona as that's the next popular SS model imo
