I know VC is part of the Holy Trinity and Lange is not, but when I think about getting a watch I hardly ever think about getting a VC. I do however always contemplate getting a Lange.

In this case the choice for me would be very easy. Grand Lange 1 MP in Platinum

Funny, I don't remember seeing one. I'm hearing from a lot of people that it's a watch they like but wouldn't buy. Go figure...

This was sitting in the front window of one of the dealers last summer.

Tried it on and it was very nice.

If you're keen, I can go back to the shop this weekend and see if they still had the one I saw last weekend.

If I go for it, it'll probably be new. But thanks!

Same prices I was seeing. If this watch was around 20k used I would own one already. But that's dreaming it seems.

On the MP I prefer the RG, on the Dato and Zeitwerk the white metal. As for the 1921 I think it is an interesting design and I'd wear it happily if given one but I wouldn't pay for one, not unless I had a dozen other watches probably.

I love the uniqueness of the 1921 and it's not the easiest watch to find so it gets my vote. I'd prefer other langes 1 mp isn't my favorite.

Tough choice for sure. I think the 1921 is gorgeous, but lean slightly toward the plat Lange.

Yea, 25K retail would be more reasonable being that the standard Patrimony with the same movement could be had for about 16k.

Preferably, I would rather a WG version of the MP as I find the platinum to wear a little heavy. But I prefer the Platinum's aesthetics to the Rose Gold with moon phase and on the standard Lange I'd take either.

It wears great. Thin but fairly heavy due to the RG case. Slim enough to fit easily under a cuff but with a large, legible dial, even if slightly canted

I may have to wear it tomorrow if I can find it in my post move disaster of a house.

I have the Grand Lange 1 MP in Platinum and love, love, love it.
I would easily choose it over the 1921.

All three are amazing watches that I'd happily add to my collection. If I had to choose one, I'd go platinum lange

That Lange seems like one big @** watch, what's the case size?

41mm I think 9.5 thick. Like all Langes, it wears large, but the big moonphase suits the case. You could stare at that moon phase for a long time...

Yes, definitely worth it. Something intangibly right about his watches.

They don't wear that large--trust me. BUT all dependent on your wrist size/shape.

Paul I think for dress watches they do wear large but I like dress watches with wrist presence and that they have! So for me wearing a suit and tie to work they make for the best work week watch with a balance of dress and sportiness vs traditional slim dress watches. So for me big watches on weekends and dress watches for the week make for a perfect balanced collection. If one doesn't dress up for work then I would wear a pure larger sports watch 24/7!

Also my wrist is pretty good size at almost 7.5 inches and flat and they look good on me or at least I think they do!

I agree, something about the case shape and size of most Langes lend themselves well to a kind of sporty elegant look. You wouldn't think so being that the dial's are usually so meticulously crafted and elegant. But when you wear one on the wrist it just works. I remember ben from Hodinkee mentioned in his Timezone review that the found he was able to wear the white gold version with shorts and for two weeks straight without feeling it was overkill.

1921 is such a unique piece. That's what I'd go for in your lineup. You can't really go wrong though, they are all superb pieces.

Size

If size is an issue you could look at finding the smaller sized Lange 1 MP in pt. IIRC it's 38.5mm and has a smaller moon phase display in the seconds display rather than the main display of the Grand version.

No, love the size of the Grand 1. And it's a totally different moonphase, much more elaborately done.

out of those i would choose the VC, because it is so unique & well done and it looks great on your wrist.

i am not into the miniature dial look on the Grand Lange 1… IF you were considering an 1815 from ALS then i would have a difficult decision.

Just tried the VC again, it is delicious on the wrist. What do you mean about the miniature dial look? The asymmetry or just the small time dial?
