Help with identifying a Rolex from 1936

I have been on a quest to find a 1971 Rolex ref 1600.1601.1603 dial 34mm and came across this one (hopefully the pic attaches).

The website gave me this:
Description: Rolex round stainless steel case with off-white dial, circa 1936

Vintage - Very Good (signs of wear)
Brown suede strap
Manual movement
Buckle closure
This watch comes with a generic box
34mm dial

The rep only gave me a store ID/ catalogue number, which doesn't help much.
I did try to enter those numbers on the Rolex site and of course, it drew up a blank.
So- am grateful for any insights

That watch is from the 50's/60's.

Probably a 6444 or the like. The proper numbers will be inside the caseback or on the side..

That's a crazy price for that watch and how could you have any faith in what they say when they don't even understand basic era styles?

The only thing I would believe is their "no returns" policy.

I can't comment on price since I don't see one mentioned in the thread. But I wouldn't get distracted with it - not worth the time since the original mission is to find something much later.

Thanx 77T. Thank you for your guidance....Yes I do get distracted... But the markers and the blue second hand gets to me every.single.time I see this watch...I have been searching on and off for 3 yrs... kids get in the way! Lol.

Tools- thanx for the model number and year. Just googled and 6444 is similar. Slightly different though.
But as you say- it is on the inside of the case and the store should be able to get to that easily enough. Sad that they didn't when I asked.

Now that price has been mentioned to be way too high, one can only offer a price to the vendor. This could apply to any watch that I find and not neccessarily this one shown above. I have not bought a watch online before, let alone a vintage one. so I am seeking guidance. This is how I would look at doing it:

1) provide adequate proof to justify my offer. I would assume that I have to look at FS Items.
2) renegotiate till I am happy with price?
3) just be ballsy and offer a price

I have always bought new and negotiated for a cash price. Of course this works in my local area. I am in AUS. Cash price on the internet seems an odd concept. These vintage items that I have searched are in USA. It seems the variety is greater in usa. So buying online is new to me. I know to stick to trusted vendors and there is a list on this forum. I also know vendors will be reading this as well, but I just need some guidance.
