Yacht Master I as a daily watch
Anyone else have a yacht master I as a daily watch? I have found that the platinum bezel on mine is a huge scratch magnet.
Looking at those new Apple Watch cases, maybe someone should develop some type of case for Rolex watches... Just joking!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Can't really speak to this issue as I don't have one currently...but I can't imagine why not.
Yeah, scratches are going to happen, but that doesn't take away from the beauty of this piece. Just my thoughts, of course. |

I would love to own one and would definitely use it as a daily. Any polished piece is going to pick up scratches, just gotta live with it IMO.

I have owned this watch a couple different times, platinum dial both times. I found the bezel to be very prone to scratches, the matte finish especially. I am pretty ocd about my stuff and took very good care of the watch, still didn't seem to matter. I've heard other members here say that they have had no problems with the durability of the bezel finish. It's a shame, I really love the watch and think it wears incredibly well.

I absolutely love my Yacht-Master. I have an F series that I wore everyday, all day for 4 years straight, playing golf, working out, partying, desk diving, on natos, leather straps, etc... I've been very impressed with how well my bezel held up. I only had a few tiny scratches in the matte part of the bezel insert that were visual from certain angles with the lighting.
I ended up accidnetally dropping it and shattering the crystal so I had to send it into NY RSC... but when it came back it was mint!! |

The YM would be a fantastic choice for a daily watch. I owned mine for nearly five years and wore it regularly (not daily). I do see how the bezel can scratch, but if you are somewhat careful with the watch, there should be little or no scratches.

I had one for awhile...the bezel scratching you mentioned is the reason I moved mine on, I just couldn't deal with it.

I'd have a ceramic as well, same for AP and PP sports models.

I have a two tone YM as my daily. I've only had it for a month though. Some scratches but I love it. I'll never trade it in.

The platinum bezel will pick up scratches but can be refinished and won't shatter like ceramic. I see platinum as an advantage.

Can anyone post pictures of RSC resurfaced bezels? I have seen some mangled bezels in the for sale section on the older yacht masters. I am worried about letting even the RSC touch the bezel.

I wear mine every day. Love it. One small scratch on the bezel under the right light after 9 months. These watches are tough. If it gets dinged up a little I'm fine with it. Adds to the history and character of the watch.

I really would not worry about any RSC doing this, see post 6 from JJL

The scratch magnetism you referred to is why my ownership of one was short lived.

The only ding I have managed to put into my YM bezel was from a hard hit into a door jamb. Take a look at 9 o'clock on the bezel. I find the bracelet with PCL much more scratch prone.

I don't now (and never did) have one, although I do like them. What's a few scratches among friends. They (the scratches) just add to the character of the watch.

Had a 16622 and 16623 in the past as daily wearers and both were fine. The watch itself was not unlike other sport models I wear. The bracelet on the other hand was a scratch magnet. Just part of the deal with PCL's.

I'd like to bring this thread back from the dead. I'm looking for my first Rolex and the yacht master is currently #1 on my list. However, I would plan on wearing it daily and I'm worried about the bezel. Does anyone have pictures of the bezel with scratches/scuffs? I'd like to see how much they stand out- I'm not worried about the PCLs-I expect them to scratch. Thanks for any pics/info.

Had mine for about 2-3 months now and wear it ~5 times a week. Fortunately no scratches on the bezel that I can see. I love the watch though.

i don't see why not, as long as the large triplock crown isn't a comfort issue.

Here's mine. It's been my everyday watch since March. Yesterday with the heat and humidity it was a little tight even with the EasyLink extended. If that issue continues, I might switch to my Sub.
Today I'm wearing it and it's fine.
