Should I be Concerned?
Got up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water, looked at my Explorer to check the time and the pic below is what I saw.
I gave the watch a good shake and the date snapped in to place. Normally, it snaps right in a minute or two after midnight. It's less then a year old and I wouldn't expect this (or any problem really). Is this something to worry about? Take it in to the AD in the morning? |

Un Rolex like, as we all know they tend to change date whenever they feel like it, most of mine are inside a couple of minutes, my ALS goes about 12.40! But that does look weird, maybe try and check tonight.

I'd keep an eye on it at first. Manually flip through the date wheel to see if you notice anything out of the norm. If it happens again, I'd send it in.

Possibly a build up of lube?-As stated above, flip through a month or two with the hour hand then keep an eye on it-It has been noted on this forum to happen occasionally.
I wouldn't worry about it. |

Flip through the month a couple of times to see if it is some oil that needs spread around. Also something at the back of my mind says this happens occasionally on the 3186 moment due to a build up of oil and has been talked about in the forum before. It's happened to me once and that was on a 3186 powered 16570. The 3187 is based on it so could be the same.

Happened to my wife's GMT a while back.
As mentioned, try cycling the date wheel a couple of times and see if it still happens. Worked in my wife's case. |

Should I be Concerned?
While cycling the thing through the date change might be an option, I'd suggest it could have been doing this for quite a while twixt the 14-15th of each month.
Despite you noticing it normally snaps just after midnight, that would likely have been some random dates during the months you've owned it. Is it possible that it could have been "hanging" a bit each 14-15th changeover and not been noticed? The date wheel could have the tiniest burr or warp - even a slight rub - just on that section. Clearly it changes to the 15th or any other date overnight or you'd have noticed that. Like anything, if it is an inconsistent anomaly even the watchmaker can't deduce a cause. Warranty work would require an observable fault methinks. If it were me, I'd wait to see if it becomes chronic - and if it does, then drop it into RSC. Or you could overnight it to Jocke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks everyone, cycled and everything seemed fine, even the 14-15 change, but you're right, it could have been happening the last 10 months. I might take it in to my AD which has a (great) watchmaker on site. Besides, it gives me an excuse to look at Rolex.
Jocke, if they can't figure it out I'll ship it to you... |
