I personally think every watch you mentioned in the OP is a "sport" watch. However many of them can be dressed up if needed. A Cellini is and can only be a dress watch.
I think this is reflected in the landslide vote for sport watch in the poll. |

Cellini does belong in the dress category, but TRF in general is not very interested in Cellini.

For me it's both sport and dress as it's the only one I wear 24/7.
When I get the blue DSSD it will be reserved for dress. |

I wear a Day-Date II WG to work M-F and a GMT TT weekends. However because the GMT is new (and I love it!) it is getting weekdays frequently. I am considering a DD 40 PT which may get 8 days a week for a while if it happens! When I will see business people who would notice the TT (it gets more looks due to yellow gold blinginess) and think it ostentatious, I ironically wear the DD because it is stealthy to the nonWIS.

I will go with the 88% majority here...sport. The 'dressiest' watch I have is the DJ2, and that's about it.

I consider DJs to be dress watches as well as the DDs. I guess the OP would fit in the same category (interesting not the Exp however). So these are likely all dress watches and my preferred watches. I do find the DJII extremely sporty however. Maybe the size of the watch helps it cross the boundary. Also the darker blue dial doesn't exude formality.
On the other hand maybe the light dial DJ and DD are a bit more formal but none the loss seem at home in a relaxed environment. and the OP although it has all the characteristics of a formal watch just looks way to sporty/casual to be considered as such. Being the origin of the Exp maybe as was said earlier, if it's an oyster, it's a sport watch. |

So the question remains is that a Dress of a Sport watch? Also with DJs being the most sold Rolexes why are their so few who consider them dress or wear them as their main watch? I think there are some definitional issues at work in this poll.

No need for dress watch....I don't dress up....ever. Gave away all my ties and suits, save one. The only dress watch I have is a Seagull 172S, Just in case.

The question remains for me; if the DJ/II is a dress watch and the most sold Rolex why is it so far behind in the poll? Maybe none think of it as a dress watch but more as a sport watch.
