Good for you guys. Mass props! I'm proud of the job I do, and love it dearly, but hell, I've still got 38,000$ in student loan debt and don't make half of what some of you make ha ha ha ha ha.

I just want to give all of you a thumbs up to those who have "made it." Granted, my wife and I don't live "bad" and we also have a $200k house which in my area consists of 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, and a decent amount a property, but danggggggg would it be nice to buy a watch like some of you, just because it feels right.

Paid off two cars 09 WRX, and 14 GMC Terrain, but wow.....

Once again, not complaining. Just complementing those of you "who can."

Keep the watch pictures coming. I'm very impressed and actually enjoy being apart of such a diverse forum.

At only one point in my life maybe about 4 years ago at age 38 have I been physically strong enough and light enough to make the lowest Marine corps standard for pull ups. So as you're looking at folks with crazy watch collections, mine would probably qualify, I'm looking at folks like you and wishing I could have done some of the things you've done.

I'd also love to have a German shepherd, but of course I'm at work all the time and in order for me to get one now I'd have to pay someone to take care of it all day. It would end up being their dog.

There are a lot of trade offs in life and personally I think you're doing amazing!

I'm almost 60 and just getting my first Rolex. I'm a captain in the FDNY for the last 30 years. Took me awhile to pull the trigger on a Rolex.

You guys are all right. Sadly it's a world of materialistic things.... I'm guilty of taking part myself.

However what really "grinds my gears:" I can't even begin to tell you how many section 8 housing calls I've been to where the children are dirty, half naked, parents are fiord up on heroin with no job........ BUT, they all manage to have a giant flat screen tv.

I digress. Lol.

Grady. I went to Marine Officer Candidate School two summers in a row and ended up getting injured and having surgery. Before the 3rd go around I got hired as a cop and knew it was a sure thing.

It's actually pretty cool to see everyone's backgrounds. This is the first forum I have been on with such a diverse group of people.

I feel for you, brother. I did 8 years as an Army officer with several deployments and would have gone career if I hadn't been hurt in Afghanistan. In the military (especially in jobs where you're a grunt) staying in one piece physically and avoiding injuries is a big part of being successful. Even though I was able to transition into a great career and have a better work/life balance, I miss the military. Interestingly enough, the wife misses being a military spouse as well. It was a special time in our lives that we will always harken back to.

As far as the financial and watch buying thing, Rome wasn't built in a day. Work through those student loans as fast as you can, start putting $ away into retirement accounts, start attacking the mortgage. I strongly suspect you're the kind of guy whose on the right path just based on what you said about paying off the cars. Keep at it, and one day you'll look up and be in a place financially where you can go get that grail watch (after you've gotten the wife something nice, of course).

I don't have a degree, but I don't have any student loans either. For me, it's all about who you know - I'm lucky to have some very, very intelligent friends who believe in me and my work ethic. Life is hard without having degrees, so you're way ahead of the game!
