Icon6 Smoothy for Lunch Anyone?

Scaling back on the "bad foods" and trying to eat more "good foods" before we go on vacation to Peru Machu Picchu and the Amazon. I guarantee we are going to eat and drink more than normal!

So funny... I just made a smoothie.

1 scoop of whey (Designer Whey, actually!)
1 ripe banana
1 cup of mixed, frozen berries
1 large tablespoon of Fage 2%
~4oz of water

It took about 30 seconds to make and it was really good

NICE! The Almond milk is good too... But we need to try Fage 2%. Thanks for the recipe.

Looks good. Be careful with that sugary fruit--sugar turns to fat. And that shredded coconut will pack on the pounds (but tastes good).

Agreed too much sugary fruit can be a problematic. Wife informed me we used unsweetened coconut.

Look at the fat content on that coconut...not the sugar

Okay now that I've ruined that, I better get back to my burger and fries

I'm reminded of this yogurt shop by my house..."fat free". Yep it is. BUT, 10 grams of sugar PER OUNCE - YIKES!

That is good saturated fat in the coconut, similar to avocado. Eat up

I know that berries are pretty low in sugar. Do you have any suggestions for low-sugar fruits that work well in smoothies?

There's very little to fear in eating fruits in their natural state (blender mulching aside)
The sugars to steer clear of are the refined, processed ones

By the way, if you like your smoothies on the more frozen side, simply freeze the fruits the night before (good idea to slice the banana first) . Eliminates the need for added ice

BTW - as my family has fooled around a little with Smoothies, any real good source of valid information online for good, healthy smoothies? The web is about as ridden with shake gimmicks as pR0n

That one slipped right past me

My preferred smoothie is 2 cups of ice (16oz) 1 large banana or 1.5 if not up to par , 2 tbs peanut butter, 1 serving of vanilla Greek yogurt (those cups they sell). It's a delicious after workout snack. Tastes like peanut butter ice cream but much healthier

I also do the same recipe but with frozen blueberries in lieu of PB.

I also do Gerardo's recipe

Hard pressed to find someone who got fat from the natural sugars in fruits.
