Question regarding explorer

Hi everyone! I hope I am posting this in the right place. I need help identifying the model for this explorer. It was from my grandfather. Just wanted to more about it. thanks!

If you remove the bracelet, there will be a serial number and a model number engraved on either side of the watch case. Can you check these and get back to us?

OCC, swiss only, chapter ring dial, looks like you have a 6610. A very rare early explorer, in fantastic shape. Wear it in good health

Like Adam said though, SN will help date it and model no between the lugs as well.

I'm thinking early 1016 or 5500. Bezel is pretty skinny for a 6610

also the hour markers are a bit thinner lume, I wasn't sure if it was a different dial batch or model. I still can't get over how clean it is though. What a beauty
