need some post purchase assurance here. already have president and explorer 2 -- and was tired of the sea dweller.

So I traded in my 12 year old sea dweller for a new pam 104. got 3200 for the sea dweller while the 104 was $5900. good move?

or major fool?

Congrats! You've got full support from me. I just picked up a Pam 286 and will have it on Tuesday. IMO, you can't really go wrong with a Panerai, and if I could I'd collect them all.

If you are tired of your SD, then I would say it is a good move. However, I would try to keep both if possible as they are pretty different watches and SD will be discontinued.

I am with you my man! Panerai is always a good move!!!! and the 104 looks really sharp you can wear jeans or suit and it will look great!

I have had my pam 104 now for about a year and it is a fantastic watch ,great looker,weight and very accurate.I have owned several rolexes and am now looking for a non date sub but you cant go wrong with the 104

My watches are like my kids...I'd never trade one in...just get a new one.

I share the same philosophy as Steve, i.e., my watches are like my kids, but I agree with the general consensus here that if you're tired of a watch then by all means get rid of it in favor of another watch that's caught your fancy. Life's too short.

Me, I'll give up my SD only when they rip it off my cold, dead wrist.

Either that or when a shark decides to make a snack out of my left arm.

If you were tired of the SD, then its a good move as the SD can easily be replaced in the future whereas the PAMs tend to be a little more difficult to track down...but I am sure the day will come when you will miss your SD and you'll look to replace it...

I remember my first PAM. After getting it on my wrist, the rollie went to the winder and sat for about 9 months before I even remotely considered putting it on my wrist....I almost sold it since it wasn't getting any wrist time...

That was over 4 years ago....long story short...I have fallen back in love with my Sub and i have come to appreciate it again.

For now, you made a good choice as it satisfied your WIS need and that's what counts.

Well it is definitely a good move if it is an even trade. Cos if you are sick of the 104, you can sell it to get a Z or M series SD and still might be able to have some cash in access!
