Incoming!!! (actually double..)

Hello all :)

Before the pics, a little bit of background:

I was looking for adding a third watch to my humble collection which is (was) a 114060 and a BLNR.
For the third watch, I was considering either a bluesy or a daytona, staying in the "safe" rolex territory.
I had absolutely no other brand in mind, I liked APs but the ROOs look way too big on my 6.25" wrist and the Jumbo is too expensive for a watch I would wear occasionally.

Anyway, I went to try on watches at the department store, tried on few watches and then, on my way out... I saw the Panerai store.
I didn't even know there was a Panerai store in my area.
I had some spare time that day and I was just curious because I never got the chance to take a look at one before, so I went in.
The salesman was very kind and asked me if I wanted to try few watches on.
Before I knew it, I was sitting at the table and trying on a PAM 112.
And then, WOW!, that watch actually looks nice!!!
I always thought Panerai's would look ridiculous on my thin wrist, and never got interested into Panerai's. It was not my kind of watches.
I had no intention to buy, but the salesman still gave me the 2015-2016 collection book, in which every panerai model is shown. Maybe I looked interested, who knows.
In my head, my third watch was still a Rolex.
But then, day after day, I started looking more and more at Panerai stuff online, the sub-forum on TRF, reviews, the classified, etc.
I started knowing some model numbers, the different features/categories, etc..
Without knowing it, I WAS ON THE HUNT!!!!

First PAM, solid or crystal case back? printed or sandwich? logo or no logo? base or second hands? so many options!

I decided the PAM112 was finally the one for me:
- Crystal case back (even though it is an ETA movement, I like the decoration, also I never had one before)
- Sandwich dial
- No second hand (I didn't like the fact that the second hand kept running while setting the time on the 111 and 005)
- Luminor case (I read somewhere that the 1950 case looks much bigger)
- ETA movement (= cheap to service!)
- I tried it on and I know I like it!

Two or three days later I found it the PAM112 at a reasonable price at a second hand retailer.

So happy.

That was two weeks ago.

Then guess what happened...

I kept looking at other PAMs and I slowly realized that the 233 was an absolute BEAST!!!!
Should I have bought the 233? Should I flip the 112? No.. that is not wise, I just got the 112...
"Alright! let's enjoy the 112 for the moment and if I ever get bored of it, I can sell it and and get a 233 later if I still can't get it out my head!"...

Fast forward today:

I only had it one day but I must say, the 233 is insanely beautiful !!!
Every time I look at it, any angle, I wanna take a picture.
I love the second hand reset feature, and the winding is indeed very smooth!
I never imagined I could be so happy about the purchase of a watch which existence was unknown to me until few weeks,
it surprisingly feels like owning a grail I have been waiting for ages.

By the way, I did not get bored of the 112, I just got a good deal on a used 233 and had to get it.
But I need to get some money back so the 112 will go, unfortunately!
If I ever get a next PAM, I think that a 000 could be a good complement.. (or maybe a radiomir?) But I need some straps first!

Even if the 112 did not stay long, I don't think would ever have went for the 233 right away, so it kind of enabled me! (Does that make sense.. )

Picture of the current line-up before parting with the 112:

Thanks for reading and see you in the WRUW posts

Great pickups.

If you're not wearing those small, girly R., send one my way.

Two great PAMs!! Welcome to the madness. Next step: straps!

And since you love the 112 and might want a Rad, maybe check out a 210?

Hehe, I am thinking about getting started with a toshi strap maybe storm grey or blue, not decided yet on the color. So many options!

Congrats and a great choice. I have found with mine, after many straps, the strap it comes with is the best combo.

Congrats on the new 233! It's an awesome watch! I traded my BLNR for a 233, and I am considering trading it back for a BLNR again I might hold off and save for the BLNR because the variety is nice.

Now time for some straps! Check out Gunny's Caitlin 2 and 74 Serie along with Toshi's Storm grey and Storm Blue. Those 4 straps make for some killer combos on the 233

The BLNR is definately a keeper.
Do you order the straps on the maker's website, or is there a reseller?

Nice entrance into Panerai, you could try buying straps in this section of sellers in panerai acceseries. You buy them for much less and you aren't waiting up to six weeks for the strap maker to produce them. Have fun!

I ordered my straps from the makers website directly.

You can contact Richard from Toshi Straps and Peter at Gunny Straps. Both of them are a pleasure to deal with.

If you had to choose one, BLNR or 233?

I ordered a toshi storm grey already.

Hmm, your question is too hard!
I would say 233 these days, but there is no way I am giving up any of those two!

Ha! I flip flop. Yesterday was BLNR and today its 233.

Great choice! I just received my storm blue about 2 weeks ago and I think I like it a smidge more than my storm grey. I haven't been able to take it off my 233! Both great options tho.

Here are a couple shots of them on my 233

Storm Grey

Storm Blue

Side by Side

And here is Toshi Storm Grey next to Gunny Caitlin 2

Awesome piece. I absolutely love that model, but I want to get the 335 myself. Love that look in the ceramic case. But anyway Congratulations! :)
