I'm new to the Rolex world. I'm a software engineer and got a pretty large payout after a company buyout. As a gift to myself, I originally wanted to get the Rolex Explorer but the wait list around here is over a year. I decided to go with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36. I have doubts I'll ever get a call for the Explorer, but I'd entertain purchasing it if they do.

I am new to Rolex and had become interested in the Daytona Ceramic since it came out a couple of years ago. I have been a collector of 1960’s chronographs powered by Valjoux movements.

After searching in multiple ADs in the Western Hemisphere, I had pretty much given up. I stopped by the AD closest to me this year and explained my angst about not being able to order the Daytona since I had no history of purchasing a Rolex before.

The owner went to the back room and came out with a 116519LN. Upon seeing it I realized that I preferred the 519LN to the 116500LN. Now I have a purchase history!

Next I am hoping to acquire a GMT BLRO.

Anyways, late 50’s and I transport aluminum tubing (airline pilot).

Current:

Deepsea JC - fav watch of all time
Bluesy (non ceramic) - fav dial of all time
Yachtmaster platinum dial / bezel - For dress occassions
SD43 - great all rounder

Gone but not forgotten:

5513 gloss dial
5513 matte dial
Pepsi 16710
SD 16600
Daytona two tone black dial

Want list:

Hulk - I love the dial but still unsure on bezel colour
1680 red sub
Aquanaut on rubber strap - Although I tried one on whilst wearing my Deepsea and the Aqua is ultra thin and poss too delicate

Bought it new, wore it most days up until my retirement in 2008-since then resting in the safe, wound occasionally, Daytona 6265 serial #8601xxx.
My heirs don't understand the aesthetic mechanical quality of a fine time piece or the workings of an antique firearm so someday in the near future the safe will be emptied, turned into cash which they fully understand-that is if any greenbacks from the sale are left after I pass.

i am 40 years old and currently a project director's secretary, June 23, 2016, i gifted my hubby rolex submariner. 3 years after, i purchase my gift a two toned 41mm jubilee datejust on the same date but different year. June 23, 2019.

I joined the "TRF" because i have purchased a gift to my hubby. Honestly speaking, 3 years of thinking and waiting patiently, i have decided to buy my own and now, i am currently saving for another rolex target, not sure which model but maybe it'll take another 3 or 4 years from now.
