Tudor for me hands down. I bought the Pelagos Blue when it was first released about 1 month ago. It is a great wearing watch and it keeps plus 1 second time a day so far.

Depends on how you'll wear it IMHO. The Pelagos is a bit more casual and tool-like, The Breitling is a bit more dressy, especially on the mesh bracelet. Can't go wrong either way though.

Brad, hands down the Pelagos. Because:

Good looks. Snowflake hands and markers are a breath of fresh air.
Comfort. Titanium feels fantastic on the wrist...clasp is adjustable, too, so a perfect fit.
Lume. Crazy.
Movement. Exceptional time keeping...70 hour power reserve.
Wrist presence. 42mm, the perfect size. Yet with the titanium build, very wearable.

The list goes on and on...did I mention I was a fan? Seriously, can't recommend this one enough. Good luck,

Tudor certainly looks nice, never seen one in person. I have that model Breitling although with a white face, mesh bracelet and have been very pleased with it. Very robust, keeps excellent time, looks good. Rotation is bigger since I got it so it doesn't get as much wrist time as it used too. Admittedly, I don't know much about Tudor so can't comment directly but suspect either would be good choices depending on what you want. Just wanted to chime in that Brietling shouldn't be discounted as far as quality goes.

I went to an AD and decided in advance if they had a Pelagos and I liked it I'd buy it. They had one, I didn't buy it. Very rough crown, felt poorly made. Of the two I'd go for the Brightling, it's a more proven movement than the new Tudor in house. Like someone said before, most of what Brightling makes is too gawdy for me but the one in the picture here looks very nice.

Both nice of course... I've seen the Pelagos in the flesh and compared it to my bluesy 116613b... No chance !!!! Nice watch but it's a wanna be sub IMHO!!!
The breitling with the mesh bracelet is stunning and has a look of its own !!!
Sporty but elegant at the same time ... I'd go for the Breitling , lots of history there as well!

My gut says Tudor but of all the modern Tudors I've handled, the finishing and overall quality has been disappointing for the price point.

They just don't look or feel like multi thousand dollars watches. In house movements help, but that just started.

Also not a fan of the Rolex tradition of putting stupid amounts of text on the dial. Seven lines of text? Really? The breitling isn't much better off. There is so much nonsense written on both of those dials.

That being said, if I had to choose between those two, I would probably still go Tudor.

Compare closely and the Breitling will be an easy choice. Available in 42 or 46mm the fit, finish, COSC and overall aesthetics are head and shoulders above the Tudor. Adding the mesh bracelet takes it to an entirely different level on par with or above Rolex.

But the Breitlings don't hold their value as the fan club is smaller, although the new Tudors aren't really any better in terms of depreciation. You won't see 4 of the same watch on every plane you board and there are good deals to be had on slightly used ones.

SOH all the way for me.

technologically wise, the new tudor movement is pretty awesome. the power reserve is longer, at 70 hours its almost double the ETA's. it also features a much more magnetic resistance silicon hairspring. the movement is also COSC tested.

don't get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with ETA. i have the original ETA pelagos myself. but strictly speaking which is better between the superocean heritage and the pelagos; the pelagos is much better and the movement is just one of the few reasons.
