Hi,

In a recent question I posed on the 15300 vs 15400 someone replied that the 15300 is fine for the black dial and blue, but the silver/white of the 15400 is more beautiful and dynamic than the more flat white 15300.

I'm intrigued by this. At first sight the silver/white indeed looks rather flat (a bit like the 'real' white on the ROO's), but on the other hand it would strike me as odd that AP decided to use a different silver/white on the 15400 than on the 15300. And what about the 15202 by the way (not the anniversary version of course but the previous one)?

So is there really a difference between these Silver/white dials on these RO ST top models???

I contemplated the purchase of 15300 vs 15400... I believe indeed the " white" dials are different... 15300 had a flat, duller white vs a more shimmery, silver dial of 15400. I chose 15400 as a result amongst other characteristics....

Yes, it was me, I was in the ADs for a long while comparing them and not only is the white different on the 300 and 400, but the new RG 400 has the same whiter/less silvery dial as the 300 and not the SS 400, now that was really a surprise. Dealer thought maybe silver and gold clashed so that's why they went with the old white dial but I think both look great against gold.

From everything I could dig up, it seems as though the general view on RO white dials is that the 15300 is more of a flat white while the 15400 is more silvery. Does anyone know where the 37mm 15450 falls on the spectrum? I've yet to see one in person...

I used to own a white 15300, it is actually white.

The 15400 is more silver than white, I really didn't like it that much so I went for a black 15400.

The white dial on the 15400 is actually silvery. Reflects light differently.

I don't know that I'd call the 15300 dial "flat white". I changes from muted to pearlescent depending on lighting. However it is "whiter" than the 15400 which is more silver.

Yes I agree not flat white all the time and pearlescent is a nice way to put it as it does turn a little silvery at certain angles/lighting as well, but the 400 is a maniac!

I always wondered why AP called the 15300 a silver dial. It's white to me, unless the light hits it just right. And even then it's a toss up.

I think the white 15300 is nicer in every respect over the 15400, which I saw first and did not especially like.

The dial is white, but is certainly not flat, it really comes alive when the light reflects, gorgeous watch.

I had a 15300 white dial and its very flat i noticed the 15400 has a bit more silver into it when light reflects from the dial for the 15202 white dial they don't make it anymore and i don't think its worth getting when the new blue dial is miles better.

The AP AD actually calls the 15400 a silver dial and not white. So technically you could say its a white/silver dial but they just consider it silver and aswell as AP.

The 15202 is white but at certain angles it has a silver tone. The 15400 is more silver than white.
