I always thought that diamonds in any Rolex looked tacky and then I saw the rhodium dial Datejust II with the diamond dial and changed my mind. Too much of any one thing will usually ruin a watch. A lot of models we hear about users disliking such as the jeweled Daytona and GMT Master II really are less about being practical and more a demonstration of what Rolex is able to do. I sort of view these references as demonstration pieces. Some people like the look...

These threads seem to devolve into newer Rolex owners, particularly of Subs/BLNRs, knocking everything that's not a Sub/BLNR. I have a Sub and Daytona, but I like just about all of the Rolex line up. Some I wouldn't buy, but I can see the appeal of each of them.

I like/love the ones I own and don't buy the models I don't care for (no need to mention which ones).

I don't think a single poster in the thread knocked "everything that's not a Sub/BLNR"

Thank you. A rather poor attempt at replicating the meteorite dial. (post #16)

Hate is a bit strong a word but I wouldn't wear a YM II if it was given to me for free. The leopard Daytona is pretty ghastly too.

On the topic of this thread, there are several Rolex models I don't care for. But someone on here probably has one of them and it may be their pride and joy. Who am I to put down what they like? Opinions are like belly buttons...... |
