The infamous and revered Daytona for comparison.
I was wanting the Daytona but the bezel was so reflective at least with the lighting at the AD's that it was hard for me to read the numbers.

Contemplated the VC, but the short hands, esp the hour hand, no way.

That VC is cheap looking. It's probably better on the wrist, but still...

Im not a Daytona fan so I'm going to be in the very small minority but I say the VC. First that picture doesn't do it justice. Second I don't like the Daytona's busy bezel. Third I like the date on the VC.

I have.I went for the Black Giloche dial tho.Never looked back.
I wanted a kickass chronograph and done some research. The VC had way more features( antimagnetic case, better water resistance rating, way cooler design, grand date complication which is very useful, the bracelet on the VC is phenomenal, very unique look) These are just some of the reasons I chose the VC OSC over many, many others. The build quality just oozes class,it's very robust, has a fantastic F Piguet movement, mine runs at +2s/day. I like unique design of the VC most of all.....besides, it's a holy trinity piece......it's a Vacheron for Christs sake:thumbs up

Well on the VC, I don't like the hands and the different sizes for the sub dials.
And I'm not sure there is an in house movement for this model. The Daytona, very well-balanced, with the 4130 movement, one of the best. So for me the choice would be easy. |

The Vacheron just doesn't speak to me like the Daytona does.
But you're not buying it for me. |

Tough one in SS, as VCO bracelet with MC motif is magnificent but differing sized subdials does bother me. I'd put on both at the same time and go with my heart in the end, no wrong answer here.

Now things are getting interesting. I like that people are voicing their opposing opinions rather than sticking with the majority up front. Things I definitely like better about the VC are the bezel and bracelet. I maybe blind but I didn't notice the differing sizes on the sundials. I like the date at the top. I Also maybe getting old but I'll use that feature more than the chron feature. I'd never use the tachometer feature so I don't mind loosing that. I wish I could see the VC in person because that would help. Keep up the comments. Thanks. Russ.

I'm waiting for the day Rolex retros their Daytona look:
1. No more polished parts 2. Insert bezel... 3. Panda dial options (black w/ white sub dials, white w/ blck sub dials) with the SS models 4. But keep the new clasp system for the modern touch The new generation... C'mon. |

VC is a good looking watch, especially in the blue with blue strap, but I would go Daytona all day. Daytona is so iconic at this point, its hard to pass on.

Paul Newman Dial/Watch Rules
This is a beautiful Daytona but it runs about $1.1M so... In my opinion this is a better bezel than the shiny one Rolex has on the current Daytonas. If they switch back which I bet they do I'll be really interested. I like the size of this bezel too for the Daytona. |
