AP 15400 Warranty Question

HI all, I am considering purchasing a pre owned Royal Oak 15400, 2013 model. I have some questions about warranty and servicing and hoping some of you can assist.

Firstly is the AP warranty transferrable like a Rolex warranty, ie even if my name is not on the paperwork can I still send in for work? Secondly, if the answer is yes, I have gleaned from these forums that if the first 3 year service is done under the warranty period, the first service is free and then the warranty is extended for 2 more years? Is this the case? If so I would assume if I bought the 2013 model, I could send for servicing in 2016 and have it all covered?

Finally what has been your experience with service in regards to timing and cost? I would wear this watch in a rotation and it would not see anything heavy so I am talking about a standard 3 or five year service. I appreciate this watch will have steep service costs and I am prepared to pay it, just curious of what it would be.

Thanks all for your input, this is a big decision and your help is much appreciated.

From having owned several APs over the past 3 years, this is what I can tell you: yes warranty is transferable. FYI, the initial buyer's name is not required to be written on the warranty page of the AP Warranty Booklet. All brand new APs come with a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase as written by the AD on the warranty page of the booklet PLUS a 3rd year of warranty if the watch is sent to APSC for the waterproof test to activate that 3rd year. The 3rd year activation must be done before the initial 24 month warranty expires. I have never had a complete service overhaul done at APSC because my APs are all under 3 years old so I am not sure what the costs are. However I did have the white dial on my rg 15300 swapped for a black dial and it was $800 + shipping. Not an exorbitant charge, IMHO.

AP 15400 Warranty Question

Warranty is 100% transferable. If the watch had not yet been registered for its 3rd year service sticker you can register it in your name as the new owner.

When you send it in for the 3rd year service they will perform an inspection and water pressure check free of charge as part of the warranty. This extends your original 2 year warranty by 1 year - not 2. However, I believe if any work needs to be completed as a result of an inspection, that work specifically will get 2 more years.

I just sent mine in and got it back 2 weeks ago. It needed to be demagnetized and the letter they sent said that the work they did on the watch will carry 2 more years.
