As the title says Sebastian, "With much trepidation" Meaning I was very guarded about this. It's not like it's a very expensive experiment if it doesn't work out. It's probably my best shot with the most recent offerings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've got a good mate who collects many vintage watches. One day we met I bought a 1675 gilt from him and had the 216570 on my wrist. I told him that every time I wear this 216570 I like it more......he laughed...:-) Then he said.......let me play the little devil...... For me personal I can say: He was right! I know the "risk"$$$ is not high and I hope it will not be the same.... Enjoy your new beauty |

OP - I saw you post in WRUW today your 216570 polar on strap. Looks great. Mind if I ask you a couple questions?
- What size wrist do you have? - And wanted to follow up on this thread and see how this experiment is working out? |

I think the 216570 Polar is the best Explorer 2, period. It's a stunning watch. I hope you enjoy it in good health!

I bought my first modern Rolex about two years ago, a 10-YO SS Daytona. It's an impressive watch but almost never wear it, as I'm afraid I'll scratch something--like the PCLs, polished case, etc. Call me a wimp--I can take it. The truth is that I don't think I'm cut out for the modern stuff.
I rotate my three Tudors regularly, moving the two Rolexes in the queue only rarely. The Daytona sits in the safe most of the time for the aforementioned reasons and the GMT because it is my first Rolex that I bought almost 45 years ago. The GMT has immense nostalgic value, will always be my favorite, and for the first 35 years I wore it with almost total abandon, rarely removing it from my wrist. Nowadays it gets special treatment, sort of like you would give a precious family heirloom. That's because it is one. My favorite daily wearer is the Tudor Sub, only because it is so easy to read compared to the chronos, followed by the 79170 and 79180. The upside to the Big Blocks is their impressive wrist presence, as they are really a kick to wear.

Well, this is interesting. First my wrist is between 7.25 and 7.5 depending where and how tight you are pulling. After today when I got home the Exp II went right back in the safe and I put a vintage on. I like having a modern watch but the bling and sapphire are a turnoff for me. The warmth of plexi can't be beat and I love the individual look of each vintage watch. I have been thinking of selling or trading the Exp II but nothing has pushed me to it yet. I keep anticipating the release of a SS Daytona. That would really get my attention if it's done right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Congrats Larry! Looks great on your wrist. As long as most of your collection is vintage you won't hear a peep from me enjoy my friend.

I know what you mean, Larry. I really like my Milgauss GV. However, in the morning, I always grab my GMT 1675 on a Jubilee bracelet. It is so comfortable. There is also something about the matte dial that I really enjoy.
