After having seen this pic I called my trusted seller for a quote for the exact same watch. If price is okay then I might order it this afternoon

(Just a technical side question: Does VC bracelet come with 1 or 2 half links?)

That's awesome. That's what a meaningful discussion. Enough information and respectful enough that we can learn something new. I was in the same boat. I liked the watch at some level compared to the Daytona but I wasn't a buyer when I started the post. The knowledgeable guys (I'd name them but I'd leave out important ones) on here moved me to the place where I became a buyer. The same thing happened when I read a post (I wish I could credit the guy but I cant) posed the question re AP diver vs DSSD blue which I was ready to buy. I now own the AP diver and I made the right decision for myself in that one too. I think you'll live the VC OC.

Today one of my two princesses turns 5 so I'm going to try to stay off of here and focus on her. She's on the right and my other is in the left.

The truly finer things in life. The rest is basically just bent, pounded and melted metal and glass in comparison.

Thanks JHutch.

Ckci - Now I have the bug to trade my Rolex for the Overseas! I was looking at the AP diver as well and seeing you have both what are your thoughts on the two?

Once they replace the movement with an in-house movement, I'd get the VC all day every day and twice on Sunday over a Daytona (although maybe that doesn't count because I already had a Daytona and sold it).

To me there is no clear winner. I'm very happy with both. No buyers remorse or let down with either. Both are 1st tier sports watches and overlap in the way. If you want a dive watch which is what I was looking for first I'd highly recommend the the AP. If you really think you'll be banging the watch around I'd consider the SubC. The AP looks better than the Sub in my opinion and is classier. I have a Sub C and it's a great watch but again the AP is in a different league finish wise. After purchasing the diver I wanted a chron and I was sure that meant the Daytona but wachulookingat posted the watch I bought and that started the investigation. I'm convinced the Daytona can't hold a candle to the VC OC. I'd get it over the AP chrono's because in part I want variety. Btw in 36 hours the VC literally hasn't lost a full second. The AP maybe slightly dressier and I think the VC is more durable. Each is a great choice. If you already have an AP I would jump on the VC. I love the Maltese motif. People have mentioned that when you set an AP the minute hand can jump a minute or so. I've experienced this some with my BNIB AP diver. I have had to try 3 times to get it right. There is none of that with my VC. My VC was really well cared for basically new watch purchased by wachulookingat as his personal watch from AD in Sept 2015. The AP comes with a great rubber watch band. I purchased the new SS bracelet for it from another vender for $1,800. The VC comes with a SS bracelet that in a side by side comparison shames and embarrasses the oyster bracket on my SubC. The VC also does much better in the water and just like the diver is certainly one you can swim with with its 150 meter rating. That's important to me because if I'm at the pool I want to be able to swim with confidence and not feel like I need to stick my watch in a sick or stay out of the water. I think waiting until Jan for the VC OC would be fine for the new in house movement but as it is the VC and AP use the same movement but VC modifies it substantially in house to get the double date wheel at the 12:00 position which I really like. It's also very visible and to me superior to the one on the AP. Sorry this is all over the place but if you like the look and I do the rubber watch strap on the AP is really comfortable right out of the box without having to go in for a sizing.

Would anyone choose an AP chrono over the Daytona. I have a new I series AP diver I like a lot but have concerns about reliability of the AP.
Funny you should mention that, I'm contemplating unloading my AP diver for a Daytona again, size and reliability concerns (and I miss the Daytona Chrono)

To be completely honest I'm really not a fan of that VC, I find it looks like a cheap seiko

What a gentle way of putting it.

Ckci, I like the overseas chrono a lot. Is it as iconic and famous as a Daytona? Is it the style of watch that VC is known for? No and no. But it has a good charm to me. I enjoy the mix of "haute horologerie" and sport watch influences.

Dial is highly legible, date is incorporated well, and it's refreshing to see something different

Star Ferry/Steve. I agree with everything you said. The Daytona is certainly iconic. I personally don't want to wear what everyone one else is wearing and I really dislike the bezel. To me that killed the deal. I guess if I thought I might need the reflective surface to signal a plane should I become stranded on a desert island I might really be drawn to the watch.

You don't already have a Breitling Emergency for those situations??

I wonder how many Naysayers actually handled an Overses, or owned one, just curious.
I find one thing very appealing about the OS, is that, no one will know that it's a very high end watch. The Rolex name and design is so well known, even non watch person will recognize it at a distance. Some will ask "is that thing real?" Which is kind of annoying. Not really gonna happen when it comes to the VC, it's under the radar, it's gorgeous, yet only its owner will know what it is, how much it cost or how it makes them feel.
Some people go for Rolex, just because of the brand recognition or status. When one grows horologically and personally, they realize, that buying watches is for themselves not to impress others. To say the OS looks like a cheap Seiko is kind of silly.Thats your opinion, and that's fine, but that's a very uninformed opinion.
The OP made his decision and purchased the watch, what it looks like, was based on an objective decision making process

Couldn't agree with you more!

For me I stayed away from Rolex for this very reason and a few months ago got the GMT TT, which is a great watch but I already want to sell it. For me Rolex is like Mercedes, world class brand and known by everyone but just like Mercedes you can get a low end model and a very high end model. To me that is just not as appealing as some of the other brands that concentrate just on top tier quality and luxury market.

Either way enjoy what you get!

Yes, bland.

From the pictures alone it looks like an average Skagen chronograph. I reckon that the blue doesnt help. At this price point you would expect something more visually striking, which i think the Daytona offers.

Only negative about Daytona is that its the epitome of flash, if you do not mind that then i really think the Daytona is a nice watch.

But of course, it is my opinion, which you asked for :)

Pictures don't do this watch justice,it must be appreciated in the metal.
