Clock Odyssey
Earlier this year I bought an Atmos clock, a thing of great beauty (and expensive for a desk clock).
Then a few weeks ago I stumbled on a 400-day anniversary clock in an antique store, the owner knew very little about it (I knew nothing at all), and suggested I take it home and see if I could get it working. He said "for $40 what do you have to lose?" So now I've discovered the world of Kundo...a whole community, very fascinating. Last edited by BlueHeron; 21 November 2015 at 04:40 AM.. Looks cool. What do you reckon it's worth?
Reminds me of a time I found an atmos on the self of a garage at an estate sale. I showed too much interest and the estate sale coordinator took it off the market. I was pissed. |

I'm watching my Atmos right now...one of the most beautiful machines I've ever seen. The Kundo clock, if I can get it going (it's in good condition and ran for about 40 minutes after jostling it in transit), is not worth more than a few hundred bucks, so I can't say it's like that guy who bought a vintage LeCoultre at a Goodwill store for $100 and later sold it for $35,000... But it's got a lot of brass and looks great, and is 100% mechanical, and beautiful, and opens up a door into a world I'd never heard of (one wind, runs for over a year). |
