I have been a car enthusiast for a long time (specifically Porsche 911), Rolex has always been my dream watch since I was a child. For my 40th birthday gift to myself, I decided to buy a very first expensive watch SS Daytona white dial. It look so gorgeous and frankly I am afraid I would nick or dent the watch of wearing it daily.
So my next question is, would it worth it to buy a second used watch may be a black dial Date Submariner? Is it bad idea buying used Rolex watches? Can I trust people online (most likely the people on the advertise section of this forum)? Thank you for reading my first post and please feel free to educate me about Rolex watches. Thanks in advance.
Welcome. Remove the stickers and get that strapped to your wrist!!! It is a watch that eludes me for now!!! Really lovely!!! Congratulations and welcome!!! As far as used watches; nothing wrong with that approach if you know what you are doing! Also use trusted sellers here on the forum to buy from as generally a great way to get reasonable deals.

Congrats...I would wear the heck out of that bad boy. Now, as to if a nice sub would fit into your collection...absolutely.

Then after that, a GMT/EXP2, and after that...

Great watch like Tom has mentioned plenty of the Daytona / 911 combo on this forum.

Congrats, you have impeccable taste.

You have to wear that Daytona every day, that's the idea, to share your life experiences. I would definitely recommend getting a sub, and to get one from one of the trusted sellers on the forum.

I am also a 911 fan and currently have a 991 911 GT3.

That's great, welcome to the forum! I think the SS Daytona and any 911 make a great combo. May I ask what 911 do you currently have? On my bucket list is an air cooled 911 but maybe only after I get all the watches I want.

Welcome to the forum. Wear and enjoy your watch in good health. I wouldn't buy another watch just to keep the Daytona safe but if you plan to rotate them absolutely keep adding to the collection.

I've had several 911s and a few M3/5/6 series along with couple AMG but "There is no substitute". A pristine example of aircool 911 will run into 6 figures easily, when it come to 911 they are all beautiful . I currently drive a 997.1 Turbo with the last of Mezger GT1 racing heritage, 6speed MT, classic 911 curves and the monster torque addiction. This is the car I will pass on to my child.

This exactly! 👍
I've always been a strong believer that watches were intended to be worn and not spend their life as a safe queen. I can remember however getting my Daytona and seeing all those shiny surfaces. I had to remind myself that a mint watch that is never worn is no fun. Wear it and enjoy it. If you get some marks or scratches it can all be removed when it goes in for its 5-7 year service.

I think a Subc is a great second watch for you, research sellers here like Davidsw and ocrolexguy who can get you unworn ones at great prices.

First off, congrats. The Daytona could be my favorite modern Rolex.
It lost to the RO by a hair when I was considering a rest of my lifetime/exit watch last year for my Birthday.

Secondly: The problem you are already encountering is that you want to wear it all the time, your concern should not be damaging the watch but rather wearing it until it falls off of your wrist. Like the Royal Oak, the Daytona does swing to the dressy side but it is such a design classic you will find that you will want to wear it with a button down and jeans as much as with a suit.
Your problem is not a 2nd watch to prevent the inevitable minute scratches and tiny dings, but a 2nd watch you will get actual wear out of.

If that is the case, a beater is needed. And it does not have to be a Sub. I made that mistake when I picked up a 114060 this past Spring. I think I have worn it 50-60 times since then. The longest stretch was a week in Bermuda in May. If I could do it all over again, I would have gone for a Tudor Pelagos or even a used Seiko MM.... Less money tied up in something that only sees weekend use.

Enjoy the watch and that beautiful Porsche.

It has been almost 2 weeks wearing the Daytona almost daily, I said almost because I don't feel comfortable going to the beach and shallow water diving with it. The Daytona is beautiful BUT it has a lot of reflection/blingy in your face look to it and more so with the white dial. Today, I went back to the Rolex Boutique store to try the Sub and Seadweller, I have smaller wrist by American standard and the Seadweller look massive on my wrist but love the flat surface without the cyclope on the date. The Sub casing seem smaller fitted better but the cyclope is my only negative. Given the two which one more popular or more special in the Rolex community? Lastly, how much would it cost for latest model submariner with ceramic bezel and newer bracelet with clasp in good to excellent condition. I really don't know much about pricing on these watches and of course don't want to overpay or being call a low baller either. Thanks everyone for your advice and kindness
