I thought you can polish away or down gold but platinum just redistributes so no metal loss. Is this true?

as I understand it, the metal is pushed around with Platinum vs removed on gold by a scratch or polish

I don't own a platinum watch. I wear a SS Omega or a gold vintage PP (rarely). I think platinum is an easy and obvious daily wearer, if you don't mind a scratch or two. The folks who don't know assume it is steel. The people who do will likely appreciate it. I know it isn't quite the same, but my Seamaster is scarred and beaten from mountain climbing, fishing, and changing oil filters. If I saw someone with a scratched up platinum Daytona, I'd be favorably impressed with their brio and panache.

I don't own a Pt. piece (sigh), but I'm sure it's absolutely fine for daily abuse, as Dr. Tom has so clearly showed.

If the bezel and subcounters on the Platona were navy blue, I think I would consolidate everything in my watch box for it. Sadly (or fortunately, for my other pieces), brown is not my color.
