auction protocol, unsold item
I recently noticed a posting on an auction site indicating that a watch I would have been interested in bidding on was up for auction but did not sell at auction. As I was searching through the post auction results I noticed that the auction initially took place a week prior to my finding the link. Would it be, in any way, inappropriate to contact the auctioneer to make an offer on the watch? I am not familiar with auction protocol and thought I would reach out for some feedback. What are your thoughts?

i would offer but they may no longer be in possession of the watch. also, their agreement with the owner may not allow them to offer it in any other setting than an auction.
