Nos pam 127
Hey guys, need your help. I have the opportunity to buy a NOS, never been worn PAM 127. Price is 16k (€). Complete with all papers and boxes. I really like it and have wanted one for ages. Is it a wise decision or should I just go for a 422 at half the price?

127 is really nice, but I would only drop that kind of coin on it if I loved it and if I were a hard core fan of the brand. From your post, it seems like you should pass.

Preowned 372. Save a bunch of money. 127 is overpriced and will take a big hit the moment you put it on.

I'm a domed-sapphire, SS, classic lume, 1950-Luminor freak - still my all-time favorite of all case-crystal combos from postV Panerai. Heck, I have two :) The 422 is a beautiful PAM to be sure, but it's a different animal. Despite the similarities (similar case, 47mm, "raised" crystal, etc) it is still quite different. If I had / planned on having only one PAM, it would have to be my favorite within my price-range and no "consolation" model. so buy a 127 if it's the only PAM you think you will own and if it's really "the one" On a side note, I'm not sure why we should suggest a 372 as substitute; your selections clearly tend towards a sub-sec dial as well as sapphire crystal... but feel free to correct me if my assumption's wrong. *Is it the one from Markus...? If so, I think you can trust him - at least that's the feeling I got when I met him at a Panerai GTG in Firenze. EDIT - The distortion of the 127/217 domes is very unique; some may not even care for it but I love it... ! Next best thing to those fat (and phat!) numbers of the preVs... 233 with "updated" dome crystal (l) and 217 with classic dome (r)

Look for a complete used 127. Save a lot and have enough for a nice used SS Rolex.

You can do much better on price! Don't pay more than $13,500 USD for it as it isn't worth a penny more. In fact even at that price if you go to sell you will still take a slight hit.
