As others have said the retouched dial and hands will have an impact, but hey how many of those do you see.

Great looking vintage Sub

Pity about the touching up of the dial, but in time that will age (might take 20 years). As mike said, these are still rare watches and it should get a reasonable price as long as it is in reasonable condition (movement/case/dial).

yeah it is a very nice piece.I know what you mean about the redial.but it is still in very good shape otherwise.
my buddy is a doctor here locally who I have bought and sold watches to for a few years and he finally has started his own practice but needs to add another wing to his new building and that will cost around 15k,so I am betting he would take that amount for it.I just hope it goes to someone here in the forum,I would hate to think that it will go to some watch hustler who doesnt care about the brand just so he can flip it for a quick buck.A watch of this provenance should be appreciated.
this is a great investment for someone seeing as I have seen similiar models even with redone dials and hands go for 25k and up.
I still need to take some high resolution pics before I post it.just dont have a lot of time right now-I will try to get them up in the next day or two.

I have gotten several offers at 12k,my seller really needs 15k to do the work he needs for his new office.do you think I should talk him into accepting the lower offers or just tell him to hold off and wait and see.
I was thinking of doing the bay thing,its just i dont have a lot of feedback and I know that affects how much people will bid-also I am really wanting it to go to a trf member.decisions decisions.
I need some sage advice.or maybe I should at least hold off until I post the high resolution pics..another option...oh boy.

have you reviewed the new regs paypal instituted back in may?
basically, on high ticket items, iirc over 2,000 USD, they hold funds from the seller until the buyer has acknowledged receipt and posted positive feedback - if the buyer elects to tell them it is not "as described", paypal will automatically refund the buyer on proof that he/she shipped it back to the seller

now here comes the really fun part - on another forum seller was complaining how the buyer purchd a vintage omega, received it (it had just been serviced by a watchmaker) - buyer got it, took the movement out, sent the watch back with a different movement telling paypal it was not as described. Paypal didn't care or would not hear the seller, and seller had a copy of the svc ticket from the watchmaker that serviced it -

paypal has gone totally off the planet towards buyer protection and zero regard for the seller - it's loony

call into paypal and ask one of their Customer service reps - i called them about month ago when i first read and could not believe it

i've got about 3 high end watches i'd love to put on the bay, but not under that scenario

yes I am with you on that one.I was thinking that I could put it on ebay and just tell any potential bidders that they must still use wire transfer.

see thats one of the reasons right there that I have been boycotting the bay,to many scam artists,to many fees,too many new strange rules.I will try my luck here and on tz first.if we cant get the 15k that I am sure it is worth then I might have to try the bay.

not offering paypal - but i wonder how much that will affect bidding, ie pricing not going as strong as it did with paypal -

for some reason, (obviously moreso now), buyers feel some heightened level of protection of paypal, especially with the fraud insurance paypal offers, dependent on the seller

but the part that gripes me under the new paypal rules, the buyer has the entire auction period to "vet" the seller - but at the end of the auction, the seller is supposed to blindly ship and keep his fingers crossed the buyer has integrity

it's a shame paypal thinks it has to or can improve on the business model Mastercard/visa worked out a long time ago. They weigh both parties track records - ie, if it's a merchant with high volume and low complaints or chargeback requests, versus a customer that has filed a "complaint" over a purchase every two months - they factor that in. Paypal seems intent on redesigning or re-inventing the wheel.

Suspect mastercard/visa will wake up and realize there's a large volume market (ie the paypal market) for sellers that sell as a hobby and offer a payment svc similiar to paypal. And the interesting aspect, paypal charges almost twice what mastercard/visa merchant svcs charge, so the profit incentive is definitely there.

the other reason I dont really want to do the ebay route is that I dont have hardly any feedback,and you know as well as I do that that is a big factor when it comes to bidding on a high dollar watch.

I have seen some that where no where near as good go for 22-27k
so I would think someone would snatch it right up,yes?
