Daytona Authenticity
Does anyone know if the there is a micro-etched rolex logo on the crystal of a late Z-series SS daytona?
I have been looking at pictures a potential seller has sent me and cannot see this etching? I can clearly see the ROLEXROLEXROLEX and serial number. Thanks for the help |

Not sure when the laser-etched rolex logo on the crystal started, but it should definitely be on a late Z serial SS Daytona.

it is very, very, hard to see on white dial modells, keep looking with a loupe in direct sunlight!

Yes, it should be there but difficult to see without a loupe and/or a flashlight shining on it at an angle. Mine is a Z300xxx serial number (black dial) and it has the etched crown and ROLEXROLEXROLEX.

Unless the seller took some very good pics, you'll need the watch in hand to see it....

Welcome to TRF!
The LEC was introduced around 2001, so a Z-series Daytona should have it. As stated, the LEC is very difficult to see and especially to catch on a pic. Even more difficult on a Rolex with a white dial.

Apparently the fakes have a much more visible etching. The fact that you can't see it is actually a GOOD thing!

Watchguy, make sure the seller is legit before even considering the watch. If he's local, have the watch inspected purchase (RSC Bev Hills comes to mind). He could be using someone else's pictures for all you know.

Got it
Thanks for all the advice. Got the watched checked by an AD passed with flying colors. Actually completely forgot about the etching until reading my post just now.
It is very difficult to see. I did not have jewelers loupe or magnifying glass, but you can see it with naked eye if you shine a bright light on crown. New proud owner of SS Daytona Black Dial (Z-series) |
