Received the bracelet back from Michael Young

Some of you may remember my other thread when I was exploring strap options for my Explorer ref. 14270. Well, today I received a package from Hong Kong (via FedEx and Michael did inform me of the shipment beforehand).

Now I know what all the rave reviews were about. Michael is a true craftsman when it comes to restoring any old (stretched) bracelet. Here are the results:

The bracelet came via FedEx envelope and I got it in 2 days

Inside were a couple of more bags with bracelet meticulously wrapped in soft paper

Once unwrapped (he also included 2 brand new spring bars with the end links)

Zero stretch and lightly polished per my request

Back on my wrist

Before pic

I sent the bracelet out on November 25 (via USPS) and received it back today so that's 6 weeks and 2 days. That was to be expected since I sent it out during holiday season and Michael told me that it might take some time since he has to work on other bracelets before mine. As for the cost, you'd have to ask him since he only give out quotes on a case by case basis. When the restoring is finished, he'll tell you how much and also any shipping cost and you can make payment via PayPal.

All in all, it was totally worth the wait and I'm very happy with the result. The bracelet looks brand new and I'm just happy to have it back on my wrist again.

Does anyone know the process by which Michael "tightens" the links? What is the physics behind the stretch? Do the puns that hold the bracelet wear out or do the holes in the links get larger? In either case, what is the process to tighten?

This thread explains it pretty well:
