New Submariner Inner-strap - polished, not pebble-blasted

Hi All-

I just bought a new dateless Submariner, via my local Rolex Barron and Leeds store, at the end of December. I have come to realize that the inner metal on the strap, where the rolex logo is housed, is polished silver -- not pebble-blasted (rough metal with black logo engraving).

Does anyone know why this is the case? Did Rolex perhaps change the band design?

Thanks all!

There have been some threads discussing this. Rolex made the transition gradually to the smooth clasp. It's just a cosmetic change.
