What is the experience of people owning forged carbon APs and how resilient are they as daily beaters? I'm thinking of getting novelty FC 44mm with ceramic bezel for everyday wear. All relevant info good and bad about the material will be highly appreciated

been using my FC diver as my beater for around 3 years now and it still looks brand new. Bumped, banged and more than a few oh sh** wacks and its still perfect. My SS ROO is my new beater for maybe 6 months now and has a few dings and scratches on the bezel and case.

I also have 2 forged carbon cases and I did scratch and drop tests and they still look great. If FC does get scratched the marble tends to hide scratches. Some cases have had issues with QC but I trust in AP making it right if there is something wrong.

over the long term probably better than a steel case - although it cannot be polished it can be (comparatively) cheaply replaced

read somewhere that a new case costs around $2000

Mine held up to 3 yrs of daily beatings. The sharp edges weren't quite as sharp, but the watch looked great still.

Had a 44FC as my daily beater. Sold it after two years looking like new.

Hard to say, I like the concept but some say like here their FC cases are fine after a long time while others say that after 6 months they started having problems, some models seem to hold better than others don't know what to make of it, like was said I guess if you have a diffident case AP will replace it free of charge, I'm sure it's a real pleasure to wear as it weighs almost nothing, and comfort is very important...

My FC has been my beater for since 2013. Still looks like new. I play golf and work on construction with it. Best decision I made acquiring it. Love it to bits! :)

It's almost a daily beater for me for a year now. The edges aren't as sharp as they used to be, but no other issues. Hides scratches well. Love it.

I think white ceramic is harder than black ceramic is harder than FC.
Ceramic should not have any scratches but FC can get scratched.

My Bumblebee is a 2009 watch, while the case isn't minty it's in a good condition. Hard to say what it will look like in 10 years time...

2000 bucks for a FC case? Surely not?

FC is awesome! I can see where it may eventually have some issues, but if they happen AP will fix.

The 44 FC is the best watch I ever had, bar none ... stealthy and flash at the same time.

Mine hasn't been as sharp as the day i got it lost the sharpness but at the moment the case has been the exact same for the past couple of months

Owned the 44FC for 3 years and it still look like new bar the edges which doesn't look as sharp.

Yeah AP white ceramic is 1800 vickers, black one is 1350, and of course both are harder than FC

Why you think more? I do find 2000 a little low, would think more around 3-4K...

Since the was such a big premium price wise on the FC cased watches compared to steel.

At the AP boutique in Vegas, a sales guy said that since the store opened almost 2 years ago, they haven't seen any issues with FC cases, and customers have been happy with their FC watches

Said some earlier FC cases had issues but that the newer ones are made differently though he didn't know what changes were implemented

that is correct. The only issue I've heard was GP Carbon and Alinghi which used Carbon as bezel - the bezel did flake.. I have an ROO FC and it's perfect. Since I've had both watches above, I can attest that the CF is completely different and lightyears ahead from earlier manufacturing processes.

I think this was more related to the fact that ceramic Diver was boutique only (compared to FC Diver) so they were trying to compensate for AD / secondary market discounts by keeping the FC Diver at a higher price ... I read something to that effect once ..... but ceramic 44 is quite a bit more expensive than 44 FC.

Premium between FC and SS 44 is not that high I think.

He thinks it'll become collectible

As for AP's confidence in their FC cases, he pointed out the Schumacher Laptimer and the FC tourbillon chrono with the peripheral rotor which he said has the same case as the 44mm FC

I've liked the bumblebee but seen some for sale that had a whitish look to the forged carbon. can't say i recall any of the newer FC models having this issue.

Strange! I'm a Bumblebee owner and I have never seen this in pics and it's definitely not the case with my timepiece.
