Trying out toxicnato straps. Fitting is great I just hope it'll not stretch when wet (as I'm yet to try it) customer service and follow up is outstanding, Terry is the man! Do yourself a favour and support and buy from him!

Placed an order on Tuesday for an official Tudor strap for my BBR. It'll take a few weeks to arrive. I already have the deployant clasp.

How much was it? Both the strap and clasp?

You're too quick for me; I already have the clasp and I updated my post. The strap alone was 180 USD. I didn't ask how much with the clasp.

While making some coffee this morning I figured I would put my Black Bay on the scale. I tried on a BLNR earlier this week and it felt a bit lighter than the Black Bay. Not sure of the weight had been posted before but figured some would enjoy seeing the weight.

Thanks for posting that^^^.

It took me a long time once Tudor returned to the US to take the plunge, but really glad I waited and the BBB happened to come out just as I was ready to buy. Love this watch!

Good move Lee, I did exactly the same thing and it gives the watch a whole new look and feel. The leather strap really brings the colours of the dial and bezel out. Enjoy

By the way, I have to ask if that is you in your avatar wrestling a Grizzly Bear? If it's not a Grizzly Bear then it must be the worlds largest dog, what breed is it?

That was our rescue pup, Boots, which was supposed to grow to 30 pounds. We had to put him down this past December but he had a good 14 year run. He was quite the goof ball. Mainly Shepherd with some Chow and who knows what else in him. The photo was taken at perhaps his prime.

Definitely enjoying the leather on the watch. A worthwhile expense.

I'm sorry to hear about Boots, he looks like he was a real loveable character and you obviously gave him a great life.

As for the strap I'll agree that it's definitely a worthwhile expense.

Thanks; we still have our 17 y/o chow with us and so far she's doing pretty well. She enjoys her one dog status too. I think we are running an old dog's home.

We have 5 dogs including a Jack Russell rescue, so guess that's two passions in life we share. Keep enjoying the Black Bay.

I've still been hemming and hawing over the Black Bay. It's been over a year now so I'm pretty sure it's safe to say I should finally pull the trigger, plus I have a 15 year anniversary coming up with my place of employment later this year so I'm thinking a Black Bay Red will be the perfect way to mark the "halfway to retirement" milestone. Now Tudor releases the watch with their in-house movement. The question is whether to snag an ETA based Black Bay Red now or wait for the refresh and get one with the new in-house movement (the power reserve is very tempting without any other considerations).

* * * * * The official TUDOR BLACK BAY owners thread * * * * *

The in-house movement/ 70hrs power reserve is very tempting. However, the riveted bracelet and the bubble back kills it for me. If Tudor would have kept the BB very similar as they did with the Pelagos, it would have been great! So, in my opinion get an ETA keeps great time.

Bah, forgot about the riveted bracelet. They did go too far with that one I think but I'll have to see it in person to be sure. I feel like that's something I could maybe trade though or just get it on leather and buy the older bracelet.

Hadn't heard about the caseback. It's no longer flat? That's a shame. It's already got those slab sides. It doesn't need anything else that makes it wear thicker. Hopefully it's marginally thicker and not noticeable on wrist. My wrist has a divot between the wrist bones so as long as the caseback is fairly thin it'll nestle down nicely regardless.

Is the actual dial, gilt and bezel color the same as the old models? I'm hoping they didn't change those as I loved the shade of burgundy and the hint of chocolate in the dial on the ETA version.

After much thought and going to see the Black Bays again, I'm 100% going with the BBR and I'm going to hold out and get the new version mostly for the shield logo and in house movement. Now to find a good dealer to order the watch on bracelet when places start getting them in after Basel. I'm normally a used buyer but this one particular watch is the only piece I want to buy brand new for some specific reasons. Getting excited about joining the Black Bay club officially.
