Thicker case = more durable watch?

Does a thicker case translate into a more durable watch? I understand they are more water resistant, but what about physical knocks? For example, if we were to drop both watches on the ground, is the Sea-Dweller's internals more likely to be unharmed than the Submariner?

I don't think a thicker case necessarily translate into a more shock absorbing watch.

Nope not at all. Thickness of case does not necessarily mean a more shock proof watch.

more than anything, it depends on who makes the watch and how --- not just the size.

crap can come in many shapes and sizes.

I just try not to drop my watch. But dropping the watch is going to shock the movement no matter how thick the case is.

No. However the simplest no brainer way to increase a movement's shock resistance is to make it more robust --> thicker movement --> thicker case.

A drop from the same height will result in the exact same shock-load to the movement.

You would have to increase the size of the case considerably, or change the material (think bubble-wrap), before the case could absorb enough energy before it reaches the movement to make a measurable difference.
