Input on the first AP ROO from 1993 'The Beast'...

I have started to look at the very first AP ROO released in 1993 nicknamed 'The beast', I like the blue dial that has indexes instead of arabic numerals and that it is on bracelet so it is quite different from my current AP Diver on rubber and would be a nice compliment and I also feel it would be nice to own the original configuration of the ROO....I am of course only looking for an identical looking model and not the original unmarked 100 pcs :-)

Some history

http://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/lat...ef-25721-no-32

http://en.worldtempus.com/article/in...ffshore-334417

Pics...

This model seem to have been made for quite some time, I also see that these are 'cheaper' than other AP ROO on C24 for example? why? only beacuase it is old? not so polular dial? also on some pics that Crown and puscher look black, on other they are clealy blue?

Anyone have this one, please post pics and any input....

I've owned The Beast since 2008 and there's no better Offshore in my opinion. Here are two articles I wrote about it. If you need more help feel free to email me and we can talk more.

F serials definitely have that purpleish hue as they were done after 1999 when AP switched dial suppliers. All D and E serial 'earlier Beasts', have a more teal blue hue on the dial and very unstable paint on it. Over time, these dials will start flaking and showing brown spots almost as if these were 'tropical' dials. Also a big difference in batches is that the first 100 pieces don't have the word 'Offshore' engraved on the case back, just 'Royal Oak'. The first 200 Offshores sport the double folding blade clasp instead of the double folding fork clasp.

A seller on TZ from Aus had #51 FS on tz for 25k. If you go ere and search "beast" it'll come up like 1/2 down the page.

It's a pretty sweet piece for sure.

It too is one of my favourites. Again from memory (which recently failed me) but I believe it is an JLC movement. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Could that be the reason for pricing? I absolutely live the batons vs. numerals and the dial is beautiful. Good luck sourcing one if you go for it. Can wait to see pics.

JLC based movement indeed. Pricing has to do with the fact that first 200 pieces are more special. First 100 no Offshore engraving on case back and first two hundred with a special clasp like the one on the AP #32 from the AP Museum. Unfortunately the one for sale on TZ had the clasp replaced. Mine still has the original one on. I will be posting the definitive guide to the Beast on WCL today.

Very cool indeed, love the dial layout and the blue or purple color of the later version, both very cool, if you can get a good one do it

Interesting read on AP site

What is the ref number for the later models of the beast after 99 with the more purple dial?

On a side note it seems that without the RO and ROO AP would be a not so interesting brand at all, never saw any member here get a dress AP, wonder if that's because here is a more sport centered forum or because like me most people find their dress models quite non interesting

It's probably due to the fact that Patek kills them in this category and that in AP only the RO and ROO lines hold some residual value.

This forum def seems more sport watch centered... For me, 99% of the time I'm in gym clothes. I haven't worn a suit (Tux) since my wedding 4 years ago (the ONE time I wore my PP). Dress watches are very nice, but I don't have the need for one.

Gents, I was offered this model in leather band for 9k USD in Lebanon early January.
Anyone interested in it let me know, I could share the name and number of the Jeweler.
Cheers.
