Rolex Submariner 116610 clasp

I have two Submariner, one 116610LN bought in September 2015 with frosted clasp where is written "Rolex", and the other, a 116610LV bought now, with polished clasp. Can anybody explain me this difference? Is it related to production date? Anybody who bought a submariner last months has a polished or frosted clasp?
thanks

It's likely a difference in production runs..

Since they are the same part number and tossed in a bin until needed they are probably not an indicator of production dates except that we know one run was earlier than another..

I also have both these subs and the first thing I did when I got the LV was compare every inch to the LN. I also noticed the frosted and polished difference and the only thing I could think of was on my LN, with the frosted clasp, after wearing for a long time leaves an imprint on the other side of the clasp and Rolex may have noticed this and this there way of fixing it. I have them both in RSC at the moment and when I collect them next week I will ask what they think, I doubt I will get any decent answer.

For what it's worth I have a 116710 LN GMT purchased new in Dec 15. It has the polished clasp to which you refer which is the 'newer' finish.
Yesterday, I picked up a brand new submariner bracelet from my AD to fit to my GMT because I wanted the glide lock and brushed links.
The 'new' submariner bracelet which just came direct from Rolex this week after a six week lead time has the 'older' style frosted clasp. Go figure!?

The polished blade is what is on the PM models such as Gold Subs. Looks like Rolex decided to make a minor tweak and change the stainless models with the textured surface blade to mirror polished. Not a big deal as you only see that blade with the bracelet opened up. My hulk has the bead blasted finish.

This has been discussed on TRF recently. I bought a Hulk from a member here which was dated September 2015 and it also has the polished clasp.

Same with the Daytona, there is a thread on TRF about the same topic.

So it seems like there is no strong dependence with production date.
It would have been nice from Rolex if they had put a not random serial number, in order to find the production date.
When I buy a new watch from not official reseller I have always the doubt the watch was lying there from many months, and that the guarantee date was written afterwards by the reseller himself. I know I'm a little bit paranoid

I wonder if there was initially an intent to reduce "counterfit" clasps as well in the initial reasoning for the frosted ones.....

First polished clasp I saw was around July 2015, so change happened sometime last summer.
I'm guessing bracelets bought separately are the "older" style because not so much demand for spare bracelets so stock very likely is slightly older.

The one on my BLNR is polished - Dec, 2015. I noticed this right away as the ones I had seen prior were all the bead blasted style.

I suspect its their way of categorizing a tool watch and a 'dress' watch. That's my guess.

I think that was part of the purpose of changing.

I think my BLNR (purchased last Summer) has the polished clasp, and my 3 month old Daytona has the frosted clasp. Go figure

Well within 3 days of owning my LV I managed to scratch the crystal on the corner of a glass coffee table! I am not against my watch obtaining a scratch or two over time but 3 days really bugged me plus it was my own fault and seeing the scratch all the time really rubbed it in so I relented and took it in for a replacement which they did and I am happy again! My LN was in there for a crystal related issue as well, a very very fine scratch was on there and was so fine that the technician felt that it may have been an imperfection in the crystal and as such could be replaced under warranty as the watch had been serviced with crystal replacement less than one year ago. Turns out it was a very very fine scratch! Didn't get it replaced in the end!

My LN (purchased January of '15) has the frosted clasp. I assume my watch was probably at my AD for a year or so prior to my purchase as well. Time brings upgrades.

I'm glad it worked out! I'd hate to have 2 pieces sent away simultaneously!
