I don't find anything offensive in Jeff's post. Also the word "slob" can mean just an ordinary person (well, according to Merriam Webster anyway ) and I'm sure he didn't use it as a derogatory word.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/slob (second definition)

Let's just enjoy our watches. That's what we're here for anyway.

Edit: oh and yes, I am a slob. That's what my wife told me everyday.

The OP has already stated that he did not mean his comment to be offensive. I've seen a lot worse get a free pass so let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

Umm.. I'm sorry, but your (intended) reply comes across to me as snobbish and rude. Why be a d$&k?

Thanks EVERYONE who replied. There were some more posts after this, and I could stir it up and keep replying to each one, BUT in the interest of camaraderie, and in the end, this is what the forums is for, to enjoy each other company, banters, jokes, and most importantly, get extremely valuable advice from all the knowledgeable members here, I will end it here...:)

I'm sure you did not mean it that way. People on here generally aren't rude on purpose.

Between some people being sensitive and the written word always being perceived more harshly without a voice tone and body language, it's not surprising that your term "Poor slob" was taken out of context. I thought it was a little rough. I wouldn't have chosen those words.

He noticed it was a Rolex. Maybe he's a watch guy.

I can see you have a background in comedy because I find this statement hilarious . "These people"? Generalize much? My observation is the exact opposite of yours. The majority of these people (I'm guessing you too) are here because they love Rolex watches. My guess is that most are not uptight at all. Jeff said something that a few folks find offensive. That's all. I don't think he meant anything by it.

Rob,
right on point.
I was actually taken aback when he mentioned it.
And yes, maybe he is..:)

Sometimes, like it was mentioned, typing words and being read does speak louder than actual words being spoken. An exclamation point, can be taken as yelling, etc etc.

Tony,
Bay Area? Nice.
San Jo here.

You know what would have been funny? Maybe not for you but in an ironic sense, is if your watch had a bad seal and that awesome submarine of a watch leaked. Depth rating means jack if the seals are faulty.

Damn, should have brought the Seiko lol. Just playing. I would never wish harm on such a magnificent watch.

Jeez this thread is all over the place. It doesn't really come as much of a surprise considering some of the banned things here

No one is asking you to hide your watch, but maybe not be so harsh on others who don't have what you have. This forum is full of very humble people, and it seems the not so humble people really do stand out. I would like to think you just chose some offensive words in error. Enjoy your magnificent DSSD !

heck, whats the use of keeping it in the winder if I can't take it out to get some fresh air from time to time..:)
Most people other that the WIS variety likely have no idea of Rolex's heritage as a tool watch and what they're capable of; likely they see them as jewelry only and expensive jewelry at that.
